Imo Govt Foils Fuel Fire Outbreak At Assumpta
The State Government has foiled what would have been described as waste of human lives and property at the busy Assumpta Cathedral round-about along Onitsha road Owerri folowing a bloodless accident involving a tanker loaded with fuel lost control and fell down thereby making motorists scamper for safety.
Our source gathered that normalcy was restored when the Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Special Duties, Sir Jude Ejiogu ordered appropriate authority to the scene in a bid to forestall any grave damage.
Speaking at the scene of the accident, the Chief of Staff, Sir Jude Ejiogu maintained that the incident would have been averted if the driver had applied caution but expressed happiness that God in his infinite mercy protected the people from falling victim.
Continuing, Sir Ejiogu assured Imolites of government’s willingness to continue to protect her citizens and advised all vehicle drivers to shun using hard drug that is capable of posing threat on innocent road users.
Adding his voice, Archbishop AJV Obinna while thanking God for not allowing the accident generate into monumental loss also commended the state government through the Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Special Duties, Sir Ejiogu for adhering promptly to their call and described the immediate response of state government as unprecedented as well as worthy of emulation.
He therefore appealed to lorry drivers to respect road signs and shun act of over-speeding to avoid any waste of innocent lives even as he applauded fire service agency for demonstrating high level of expertise in stopping the would be inferno.
