I’m Now Reformed, Refined And More Enlightened – Ayo Fayose
Former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, who was on Satuday declared winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries in the state, has appealed to other aspirants that contested the sole ticket with him to forget their differences and join him in the task ahead.
Information Nigeria reports that Fayose emerged winner with 462 votes out of a total of 477 votes cast.
Speaking shortly after he was declared winner by the Dr Peter Odili-led electoral panel, Fayose said he would justify the confidence reposed in him by “wrestling power from the incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi of APC”.
The PDP flag-bearer also said that he would immediately embark on reconciliation process with his aggrieved colleagues in order to build a formidable PDP.
“Nobody can run a government alone. Fayose of 12 years ago is different from Fayose of today. The new Fayose is reformed, refined and more enlightened”, he said.
Meanwhile, some aspirants have dissociated themselves from the exercise and called on President Goodluck Jonathan and national leadership of PDP to declare the primaries as illegal, null and void.
Sen. Gbenga Aluko, one of the aspirants, who spoke on behalf of other aspirants, including retired Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade, Chief Abiodun Aluko, Mrs Modupe Ogundipe and Chief Dayo Adeyeye, claimed that Fayose was not qualified to contest.
They further claimed that the list of delegates was doctored in favour of Fayose.
