I Won’t Be Deterred by Rumours of My Arrest By London Met Police – Oyo Governors Wife, Florence
Wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi has said that she would remain committed to the success of her husband’s administration, irrespective of the antics of the enemies of the government and the state. She returned to the country in the early hours of today aboard a Virgin Atlantic flight from London
Mrs. Ajimobi stated this during a visit to some cancer patients currently on admission at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan as part of activities marking the Cancer Week in the state.
She also said that she would not allow the reputation, integrity and good name which she had made for herself to be tarnished by those who were all out to bring down the government and set the state on the path of retrogression.
Mrs. Ajimobi said that she was baffled by the wicked rumour of her purported arrest by the London Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom, adding, however, that she would not be deterred by those who were out to drag her name in the mud.
“The rumour is going to stop me; it has only made me to be stronger and be more careful. Indeed, I see it as a price I have to pay for being the wife of a politician. If people want to play dirty politics, let them continue. My prayer is that God will touch their heart so that together, we can take Oyo State to an enviable height,’’ she said.
Mrs. Ajimobi, who donated cash and other items to the patients, commended the UCH management for its support to women in the state, particularly in the early detection and treatment of breast cancer, saying that this had gone a long way in enhancing their wellbeing.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of UCH, Prof. Temitope Alonge had lauded Mrs. Ajimobi for deeming it fit to solidarise with cancer patients in the hospital, stressing that this would give them psychological succor that afterall, they were not forgotten in their trying periods.
