How Yuguda Begged Jonathan to Save His Political Relevance Over Mu’azu’s Emergence as PDP Chairman
Contrary to media reports that Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State is instrumental to the nomination of his predecessor, Adamu Mu’azu as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), indications have emerged that Governor Yuguda was actually against Mu’azu’s emergence.
Former Governor Adamu Mu’azu was confirmed as the chairman of the PDP following the resignation of its erstwhile chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur whose tenure deepened the crisis in the party and led to the defection of five governors from the party to the APC.
The choice to select Mu’azu for the job was reached at a meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday 19th at the presidential villa.
But a competent source from Bauchi state said that in spite of the Sunday-night’s decisive meeting, Governor Yuguda had to rush to the villa “begging” President Jonathan not to make his “Sworn-enemy” the next PDP Chairman.
President Jonathan was reported to have dismissed Yuguda’s plea telling him that Mu’azu is the right man for the job after series of consultations among top PDP stakeholders.
Abusidiqu can confirm that Yuguda actually nominated Adamu Maina Waziri, A former minister who is also from the north-eastern state of Yobe.
Seeing the effect the dismissal by President Jonathan will have on his political relevance in the PDP in his state, Governor Yuguda was said to have “Begged” Jonathan to tell the people that he, Yuguda was the person who brought up/nominated Mu’azu so that he can still be part the top PDP Cabal and also to save his political rein in Bauchi state.
