Group Warns Gov. Ajimobi against Itesiwaju Council Chair
A social political group, Itesiwaju Forward Movement (IFM) has warned Governor Ajimobi against renewing the tenure of the caretaker chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government area of Oyo State, Mr. Adisa Olarinre.
Adisa, it would be recalled, has been in the saddle for close to three years.
The governor has been renewing tenure of caretaker chairmen since the beginning of his tenure as electioneering process for Local Government has been stalled, following a legal tussle instituted by the members of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).
The governor had dissolved the SIEC members appointed by the previous administration to appoint another one but they were opposed to the decision saying that their tenure was yet to end.
Speaking after its quarterly meeting held at Igbojaiye last Sunday, the coordinator of the group, Jacob Odetunmbi said that apart from the fact that the council helmsman has been a disaster right from the time he was appointed, he said that the continue elongation of Mr. Adisa’s tenure may spell doom for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Ajimobi’s re-election bid.
Referring to the last party congress where most of the council’s chairman and his godfathers’ nominees couldn’t make the executive committee of the APC in the LG, he said that is a sign of what to expect if Mr. Adisa is not changed.
“Despite the fact that a serving commissoner, council chairman, special advisers and senior special advisers in Ajimobi’s government, their candidates lost woefully. If any election is conducted today in Itesiwaju today even within the party, none of these political office holders can win anything talkless of facing candidate(s) from opposition party.
“While we believe that the Governor cannot be everywhere because of the enormous State works, it is incumbent on us to alert the governor on this development because those he appointed from this LG are disconnected from the partymen and more importantly, the masses. They are tired of no-motion chairman who have elevated our sufferings rather than alleviate it.
“Since Mr. Adisa came on board, he has caused disunity in the party and the LG. You will recall that not long ago, he sent some thugs to beat our party elders and he even got our former party chairman detained for days just for advising him to take governance serious”.
“No serious development has taken place since he assumed power. All what he does is engage in propaganda. The people can bear witness to this.
“To confirm our claims, the governor should pay an unscheduled visit or commission a secret committee to ascertain the allegation”.
“As we look forward to the expiration of this term renewed three months ago, we urge the Governor to give us another person. We have many brilliant minds who can take us to the promised land”.
He, however, advised Governor Ajimobi to beware of sycophant as those he trusted are not reciprocating. “They are deceivers; only interested in making money from this administration.
Saying that they are in line with the restoration agenda of the Atunluse administration, Jacob said that they’ve adopted “change in Itesiwaju LG and continuity in Oyo State” as their slogan. He added that anything contrary to the demands of the group wither away the chances of the party and will further underdevelop thw LG.
