Group Raises Alarm Over Plots By SSS to Link Former Kogi Gov. Candidate with Boko Haram
A United States-based civil rights organisation, International Centre for Advancement of Justice and Peace in Emerging Democracies, on Friday, the alarm over alleged desperate plot to blackmail a Peoples Democratic Party former governorship candidate in Kogi State, Mr. Jibrin Echocho, to withdraw his petition against Governor Idris Wada which is pending at the Supreme Court using some officials of the Department of State Services.
It also called on the State Security Services to properly investigate the alleged involvement of a university teacher in the promotion of Boko Haram lectures.
The group said Echocho was being blackmailed to either withdraw his case or “they will submit a concocted security report linking him and his private secondary school with the dreaded Boko Haram islamic sect.”
This alarm by the group is coming few days after the State Security Services on Wednesday paraded Yunus, who is a lecturer in Arabic Studies at the Kogi State University and four others for alleged involvement in terrorist activities and major financier of Boko Haram, just as the wife suspect, Hajiya Sa’adatu Shuaibu has said that security agents lied against her husband.
Hajiya Shuaibu said in Jos on Friday that her husband was framed, adding that he had never been a member of Boko Haram, but had consistently preached against the activities of the sect.
The wife said, “My husband is innocent, SSS has lied against him, because he has never been a member of Boko Haram Dr. Nazeef has been preaching that Boko Haram’s ideology is anti-Islam, and is not the path of Allah.
“And up to the time of his arrest, he has remained on that position, we are sure that up till now he has never changed.”
She faulted operatives for defying a court order directing that that suspect be brought before it on Tuesday next week, but instead went on a public show just to denigrate and destroy her husband’s reputation before Nigerians and before the whole world.
