More Governors Will Join New PDP – Baraje
Unmoved by the full of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja which barred the officials of the breakaway faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) otherwise referred to as the New PDP from parading themselves as officers of the party, the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kawu Baraje, has declared that more than five PDP governors would soon join his faction.
Baraje dropped this hint during an interview with newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara state shortly after voting at his Baboko ward in yesterday’s local government election in Kwara State.
He said the crisis rocking PDP would end only when the Bamanga Tukur leadership stopped the “impunity” being perpetrated in the party.
On plans to receive more governors in the camp, he said, “Yes, we are only telling you five. They may be more than five. Don’t be in a hurry”.
He added, “Simple, there is an end once there is stoppage to impunity, lawlessness, disorderliness and then whims and caprices being perpetrated by the so-called leadership of Bamanga Tukur.
“The powers that be will answer that question. I’ve stood up as demanded by Nigerians and on behalf of the downtrodden and on behalf of the masses of the generality of the PDP to say that impunity is not part of PDP and you are living witnesses that Nigerians are behind me”.
Baraje who was optimistic that his party would emerge victorious in the council poll, dismissed reports credited to the Bamanga Tukur’s leadership of the PDP asking security agencies to boycott the election.
He noted that adequate security was in place for the election.
Also, the PDP leader in the state, Senator Bukola Saraki described the report as speculative, saying the large turn-out of people for the election testified to the commitment and belief of Kwarans in the state PDP leadership.
Baraje added, “The party will win 100 per cent. We have done it before.
