Governor El-Rufai and the Kaduna Annual Music Festival By Adnan Mukhtar Adam TudunWada
On Saturday 12 December 2015 international and indigenous musicians like Joe Thomas, M I Abaga, Dauda Kahutu Rarara and many others will storm kaduna state for the maiden edition of the annual kaduna music festival #kademfest
The event is organised by kaduna state government under Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai and is sponsored by multinational corporations like etisalat, IHS telecom, sterling and zenith bank among others, the event will take place at the Ahmadu Bello stadium, kaduna
The purpose of the event is to create an avenue for having fun by the people of kaduna especially in the period of festivities, some of the artists that will perform live at the event have no doubt contributed to the mantra of change, the contributions of Tuface Idibia and that of Dauda Kahutu Rarara is a true testimony of that and will never be forgotten by Nigerians.
The event will also serve as a medium of encouraging those musicians in the course of their duties more especially their wise songs that preach and promotes a better Nigeria.
The events is faced with some challenges like the failure of the organisers to invite other artists especially from the North, those artists have also contributed in the change mantra which Nigerians earnestly seek and stands for during the 2015 general election, the contributions of Aminu Ladan Abubakar Ala and his Guguwar Sauyi and that of Mamsa and his Kuzo Mu Qara Fada Musu Dai Yan Kasar Mu APC Mukayi will also not be forgotten in the struggle to change the previous PDP led Federal government under President Goodluck Jonathan
The organisers of the event should have invite those artists and their likes, such invitation will serve as a means of motivation and encouragement in their work, all artists that have participated and contributed in the change mantra should have been invited.
One question I need to ask is about the funding of the festival, while I urge the kaduna state government not to use the tax payer money in the event, tax payer money should be used on developmental projects that are beneficial to the people and so on, that is what it is meant for, at this era of change such money should not be used for that, It should allow the sponsors (private companies) to do that because I don’t see any benefit the festival will bring to the good people of kaduna state rather will help in encouraging the immoral conduct of our children, I mean what will impact good on the people be it economic or social, if you say social then it will help in spoiling the morality of our children, the festival does not stick ardently to our culture. I don’t see anything that deals with morality in it.
I expect the governor who is one of the most performing governors in Nigeria to continue putting more efforts in building the state, the state as the capital of Northern Nigeria especially during the pre and post independent era was left behind in terms of infrastructural and economic development, this was caused by incompetent led administrations that ruled the state for the past 16 years, the governor should focused in correcting this serious damages caused by the previous governments.
