Gov Yero, Acting Gov. Umar, Others Tear-gassed at PDP Secretariat in Abuja
The Governor of of Kaduna State, Ramalan Yero, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, and the Acting Governor of Taraba State, Garba Umar, were among dignitaries in the premises of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat when a policeman on duty there surreptitiously released a canister of tear-gas in a crowded corridor on the first floor of the building.
Others on the corridor leading to the office of the National Organizing Secretary were Senator Abubakar Gada (Sokoto), Chairmen of House of Representatives Committee on Health and Sports, Ndudi Elemelu and Godfrey Gaya respectively.
Sources at Wadata Plaza told elombah.com that the places was overcrowded as a result of the rush to beat PDP deadline for submission of nomination forms.
“You can therefore see that the tear gas was an attack on Ihedioha or the other politicians”, he added.
Amidst complaints of manipulation of the elections of ad-hoc delegates who will elect candidates for the governorship ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), aspirants since Wednesday had besieged the national secretariat of the party to submit their completed governorship and senatorial nomination forms.
The last date for the submission of all completed forms for various categories of election is November 8.
The governorship aspirants of the party who had already been to the PDP headquarters to submit their nomination forms includes the former Minister of Labour, Emeka Wogu (Abia), Senator Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Musa Ibeto; Senator Patrick Pajok from (Plateau) and Ahmed Aminu Yar’Adua (Katsina) among others.
