Governor Fayose Weeps, Prostrates and Rolls Before Ekiti Teachers
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, yesterday broke down in tears when he hosted principals of secondary schools in the state to a meeting.
The governor wept, prostrated and rolled on the floor in appreciation of the teachers for the support they gave to him all through the period that he was impeached.
He hailed the teachers for being steadfast in their loyalty to him. He said that it was their love and support that brought him to power once again.
The governor was in tears at the event as the teachers applauded and broke into praise songs. For several minutes he could not speak, as his speech was interrupted by cheers and songs.
But when he talked, it was a speech laden with promises to the teachers and condemnation for his predecessor. He lamented that the standard of education in the state declined under his successors, and vowed to rescue it.
The Governor assured that their two-months salaries arrears and other benefits owed by the administration of immediate past governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, would be paid soon promising other benefits that would motivate them to deliver maximally to uplift the education sector.
“I knew how I was able to partner with you to bring Ekiti from 35th to sixth position. I will still do the same now. Before any payment to political appointees, you will be the first to be considered. During my first term, I met a deplorable education sector, but with your support, I overcame.
“But it was so bad and disheartening that rather than for ex-Governor Fayemi to face human capital development, he believed in building a N3.3 billion Governor’s Lodge for his own comfort at the expense of you workers.”
