Gov Kayode Fayemi today reconstituted a new 16 local Government Chairmen whose tenure run for 6month. The official swearing in of the
Caretaker Chairmen took place at Lady Jibowu, Government house Ado Ekiti in pursuance of statutory law granted to him after the
expiration the last executive of the third tier of government which expired 12mid night of 18th February.
The newly constituted Chairmen are Tope Olaonipekan, (Ado- Ekiti) Dr Adio Afolayan, (Efon) Sunday Ajidara (Ekiti East), Mr Yemi Alatise (Ekiti south West), Akin Alade(Ekiti West), Adewale Febisola (Emure), Mr Femi Awe (Gboyin), Kehinde Ogunlade (Ido Osi), Chief Dele Olatoyin (Ido Osi), Prince Adegoroye(Ido Osi),: Capt Awe Tajudeen (Irepodun
Ifelodun),: Deji Ajayi (Ise/Orun), Olakanmi Olasehedin (Moba), Akindele Ogunluyi (Oye) Ikere and Ijero Ekiti were without their Chairmen said to be on special assignment.
Governor Kayode Fayemi supervised the administering of Oath of office for all the Chairmen and signing. The hall was filled with capacity of supporters of each local Government Chairmen chanting and heaping praises of Mr Governor. In his words, Fayemi laud the effort of
council officials in taking governance down to the grassroots. “Your appointment rattles through diligence, character and commitment to the
vision of government. Local Government plays a formidable role in promoting empowerment and governance at the grass root. They are in
best position to feel and connect more to our people”. I will not leave here without eulogizing the giant stride of council leadership
in realizing infrastructural development, adequate road infrastructure and also ensuring seem less intervention on issue that affect people pro actively. One of the mandates is the realization 180 kilometers’ road in each local Government starting with 5km which we
already flagged off. Each council is also saddle with the constructing of modern market that will ease the commercial stress of market women
and people of the state.
Councils engaged in various community- self project, a long time planning with government intervention. We also have LG medium term
expenditure framework, prudent and resourceful for the benefited of the people which will be presented tomorrow Thursday, 20th February.
614million has been released as aid to ensure every community benefits from governance through community development. 60 additional free health care centers and renovation of all General hospitals are part of the asset of Local Government activities.
Fayemi, however, urged them to carry their people along in their activities. High performance is expected that is some of are still here and leading your people. Do not let them down; you should be guided by principle and ethics of your office. Hard work, discipline and diligent should also be your watchword.
