Google Shuts Down Linda Ikeji Blog Over Allegations of Plagiarism
Popular Nigeria Gossip site, Linda Ikeji Blog, has been shut down by Google over allegations of plagiarism.
Linda Ikeji Blog, which has grown to become one of the most read blogs in Nigeria has been the subject of discussion in the past days.
The site has been hit by multiple allegations of plagiarism with critics allegedly prodding Google to suspend the blog. The tech firm disallows plagiarism on its platforms
The publisher of another blog, 15Past8, known by the name Aye Dee. Had in the past few days accused Linda Ikeji Blog of plagiarizing his content without permission or attribution. His claim is coming after several others including Elnathan John and Sugabelly had also raised similar allegations in the past.
The blog owner, Linda Ikeji however denies lifting materials without proper attribution.
In an article she published on Tuesday, Ms. Ikeji dismissed the allegation, saying she cited sources in all published materials.
Ms. Ikeji said Mr. Dee and other tech-savvy publishers were out to have her website suspended by Google, angered by her success and her recent acquisition of a N24million SUV.
But determined to take the case to a logical conclusion after he claimed his warning asking Linda Ikeji to desist from copying his content without permission fell on deaf ears, Mr. Ayee Dee took the case to Google which eventually shut down the site on Wednesday.
According to Linda, Ayedee informed Google, about alleged plagiarism/copyright infringement of his works on her blog; and Google has finally shut down the blog
She however told her readers via her twitter handle @lindaikeji: “Linda Ikeji Blog will be back in a bit…biko bear with me…:-)”.
