Going Green: Toyota Set to Launch Electric Cars
The automobile company said it also planned to introduce to the market a new electric car before year-end and a fuel cell vehicle by 2015.
Japan’s top automaker’s disclosure comes amid growing concerns about global warming and surging gas prices.
Toyota will offer an electric compact called eQ, based on its iQ model, in Japan and the U.S. in December though the number of the vehicles made will be extremely limited – about 100.
The fuel cell vehicle, which runs on hydrogen, will be offered from 2015.
