The relative peace enjoyed by the Alhaji Sikirulai-led Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) in Ogun State may have come to an end as the faction which was inaugurated by the national body of the party before the National Convention is now enmeshed in a supremacy battle with one of the gubernatorial aspirants of the party for the 2019 election, Honourable Ladi Adebutu.
According to multiple sources within the party, Hon. Adebutu had promised the factional Chairman, Alhaji Sikirulai, who is from Ogun Central, the deputy governorship ticket in exchange for his support to win the forthcoming primaries of the party. In the same vein, he has also promised three party Chieftains in Ogun West the same ticket.
The party Chieftains were said to have discovered the plot few weeks ago and this led to a shouting match between them. This development also led to the issuance of a ban on all party activities related to Hon. Adebutu across Ogun West by the Chieftains who argued that should the region not be clinching the gubernatorial ticket in 2019, it would not settle for anything less than a deputy governorship ticket.
A source within the political organization of Hon. Adebutu disclosed to us in confidence that the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Rural Development has stopped funding the party owing to the protest by Chieftains of the party not to handover control of the party to him.
Similarly, another source within the Buruji Kashamu controlled Bayo Dayo-led exco admitted that they have been holding series of meetings with the son of the billionaire lottery mogul and may eventually welcome him back once the 12 billion naira demanded has been paid and he has agreed to hands off all cases challenging the faction legitimacy in court.
