Fresh Attack in Kaduna Village Leaves 35 Persons Dead, Scores Still Missing
The orgy of violent killings that has enveloped several parts of the country in recent times continued in Kaduna state yesterday as over 35 persons were killed and countless number of houses burnt by an armed gang suspected to be fulani herdsmen who invaded Zangan village in Kaura local government area of Kaduna State.
Even with the declaration of emergency rule in three states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa by President Jonathan today over the spate of violent attacks by armed insurgents, The attack in Zangan village occurred barely 24 hours after about 50 people were reportedly killed by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in Agatu local government area of Benue State.
The invaders were said to have stormed the village shooting in all directions and setting ablaze any house in sight including the home of the district head and car. No fewer than 30 villagers are now missing after fleeing into the bush to avoid the gunmen bullets.
Kaura local government chairman, Mr. Kumai Badu who confirmed the attack described it as “pure wickedness of the fulani gunmen on my defenceless villagers. The attack on my defenceless villagers was too bad, lives were lost and properties were burnt down. We lost over 12 people to the attack.”
“The Fulani herdsmen came from Berom local government area of Plateau State. They came to the village in their numbers and started shooting and killing the defenceless villagers.We are in short of security operatives, we do not have security operative in the area. The people of my community are in danger. The Fulani attack us and kill my people anyhow. We need help from the government”, the council boss stated.
