Former Sultan Of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki Is Dead

A former Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki is dead. He died at the age of 92.
Family source said Dasuki who was the 18th Sultan of Sokoto died Monday night at the Turkish Hospital in Abuja after a protracted illness.
He was brought to the Turkish Hospital Saturday night from his base in Kaduna where he is said to have been undergoing kidney dialyses for nearly two years, he source said.
Dasuki is the father of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
The family source said as his health deteriorated, the son, Sambo Dasuki, who has been in detention for alleged arms deals fraud was taken to see him in Kaduna last week.
As the 18th Sultan of Sokoto, Dasuki was dethroned by the Abacha government in 1996 amd then taken to Jalingo where we was placed on exile.
He has been living away from public glare since he left the throne of the caliphate in 1996 and relocated to Kaduna. Due to his age and failing health, not much has been heard from the man who once sat on the throne established by the great jihadist, Usman dan Fodio, and who was one of the most influential Nigerians in the 80s and 90s.
