Five Of 25 Members Of Kogi Assembly ‘Impeaches’ Speaker, Elects Replacement
The Kogi State House of Assembly has impeached its speaker, Hon. Momoh Jimoh Lawal.
The impeachment was carried out by 5 pf the 25 members of the assembly who also elected Umar Imam Alfa as the new Speaker.
Also said to be impeached along the Speaker is the Majority Leader, Kolawole Matthew, with Friday Sani Makama elected as his replacement.
Briefing newsmen on the development, Friday Sani, the new majority leader, said Lawal was impeached because he was running the House like a sole proprietor.
He was accused of not carrying his colleagues along in the affairs of the assembly.
In December, 17 members voted for the impeachment of Lawal and his deputy, accusing them of incompetence and electing Godwin Osiyi from Ogori Magongo constituency as new speaker, but the installation of the duo suffered a setback.
