Finally, PDP Grants Ribadu, Others Waiver to Contest Adamawa Governorship Primaries
Former Chiarman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has been granted the much needed waiver by the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to contest the September 6 party Primaries for the Adamawa Governorship election.
Also granted waivers to participate in the primaries were the former Military Administrator of Lagos State, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd.) and Marcus Gundiri.
All three candidates recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with Ribadu’s being the latest.
The waiver was granted after a subcommittee set up by the party’s National Working Committee submitted a report favorable to Mr. Ribadu and others.
- Before the decision was reached howevemembers of the NWC had been divided over the waiver request by Ribadu and others.
As at last night, members of the NWC were in disagreement over granting waiver to Ribadu, thus necessitating the party Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu to drag the members to President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso villa.
Sources said the outcome of the meeting yesterday night might be the reason the members of the NWC soft-pedaled and granted Ribadu and others the waiver.
