FG Plan to Disburse N32b to 16 PDP States – APC…Says G-5 Governors Won’t Return to PDP
The All Progressives Congress, APC has taken a swipe at the federal government over its decision to disburse N32 billion to 16 states being controlled by the PDP.
The party said the planned disbursement is part of plans by the presidency to woo the electorate ahead of the 2015 general election in the country, promising however that promised that the plan would fail at the end of the day.
Interim national publicity secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed claimed that his party had stumbled on a document that exposed the federal government’s decision to assist the 16 PDP-controlled states with N2 billion.
“I want to tell you that I have stumbled on a document that exposed the federal government’s decision to assist the 16 PDP-controlled states with N2 billion each.”
Mohammed spoke in Ilorin, Kwara State, yesterday during a media parliament organised by the state’s council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
He said the non-inclusion of any APC state in the disbursement of the fund clearly portrayed President Goodluck Jonathan as a sectional leader.
On the meeting of two governors – Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State who recently defected to the APC with President Goodluck Jonathan, Mohammed said gave an assurance that the new entrants will not return to the PDP.
He said the governors were at the presidential villa at the invitation of President Jonathan, adding: ‘’Being the president and commander-in-chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there is no reason why any governor will not honour an invitation by the president.
‘’There is therefore nothing extraordinary about the correct decision of the two governors to meet with the president, even as we note that the decision by some PDP governors to attend the meeting is purely within their prerogative.
‘’APC however warned against any attempt to put an unnecessary spin on the meeting to give the impression that the governors, who are now proud members of the APC family, are considering a return to the PDP.
“The decision by the governors to leave the PDP is irreversible, in spite of the meeting. Therefore, governors Wamakko and Kwankwaso remain APC governors.”
