The Federal Government says it will continue to strengthen and evaluates platforms and systems as mechanism for sustaining the Nigeria Economic Recovery and Growth plan in the Niger Delta Region.
A Director in the Ministry of Budget and National planning, Dr. Lawal Zakari stated this at the ongoing 3rd National Council on Niger Delta in Umuahia. Dr.Zakari said economic growth can only be beneficial to a society when job opportunities are been created to provide support to the people by investing in them.
He also explained that the federal government will provide support for the poor and most vulnerable members of the society by investing in social programmes and providing social amenities.
In a memorandum at the Council, the Niger Delta Youth Platform (NDYP), seeks the council’s approval to implement a 3-point agenda of sustainable peace and security to curb ecological crises and socio-economic development in the region.
