FG, Stakeholders Seek Long-Term Solution To Fuel Scarcity
The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria IPMAN, Mr Chinedu Okoronkwo says a permanent solution to the lingering scarcity of petroleum products across the country is being worked on.
Mr Okoronkwo made the disclosure while speaking to State House Correspondents, after a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and major stakeholders in the oil sector.
The IPMAN President said the meeting was a very fruitful one, adding that Nigerians should not panic over inadequate supply of petroleum products because the issue has been resolved.
“We are glad with the promise of the Chief of Staff to the President at the meeting. With what we have heard today from the meeting, Nigerians should go home and be glad because the issues of constants fuel supply have been resolved. The issue apparently, will be resolved on Wednesday January 3, as a committee will be set up to ensure that the Major Marketers, the Independent marketers and all those that are supposed to be bringing in the products will contribute. This will solve this problem once and for all. They have also assured that the refineries are coming on stream with installed capacity. This is cheering news,” he said.
Also speaking to Journalists, Minister of State for Petroleum resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu said the meeting was called to rub minds with literally all the players in the oil industry.
He said the meeting was at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
