FG Recalls Arunma Otteh As SEC Staff Protest Her Reinstatement
The Federal Government has recalled the suspended Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Otteh absolving her of committing any crime in the running of affairs at the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Despite been indicted by the House of Representative Committee on capital market for mismanagement in the commission, the Federal Government absolved her of any wrong doing.
“Otteh is not guilty of any offence, Presidential Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati said.
Meanwhile, staff of the Commission today stood guard at the entrance of the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja to prevent erstwhile Director General of the Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh, from entering the building.
Work was disrupted for more than one hour as words filtered to the workers that the Federal Government has reinstated Ms. Oteh to her position, and that she was billed to resume on Wednesday morning
The staff wielded placards and marched through the premises of the commission and adjoining street, before they were prevailed upon by the acting Director General to suspend the action.
The union leaders were later called for a closed door meeting with the management of the commission with a view at resolving the disagreement.
