FG Opens Lagos-Sagamu Expressway To Motorists
The Federal Government has opened up the Lagos- Sagamu section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway road to motorists and commuters who ply the road.
Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Mr Adedamola Kuti who made this known said it became necessary in order to ease the journey time of travellers as the yuletide sets in.
Mr Kuti noted that with the expected increase in the number of commuters ahead of the festivities, the barriers were moved to ensure a free flow of traffic.
Mr Kuti explained that the road should have been completed in 2017 but the completion date has been shifted to 2021 due to additional works including drainages, flyovers, underpasses and toll plaza being constructed.
He appealed to motorists and commuters plying the road to always exercise patience noting that the Federal Government is committed to the project by setting aside enough funds to that effect.
The entourage of the Federal Controller of Works also inspected the Ikorodu- Sagamu Expressway, meant to be an alternative route to the Lagos Ibadan expressway.
According to Mr Kuti, the ongoing rehabilitation, into dual- carriageway flagged off in April is scheduled to be completed in thirty- six months.
Mr Kuti added that the same level and duration of work was being carried out on the Lagos – Abeokuta expressway
