The Nigerian government is offering a loan of N5million to Nigerians to own homes at a zero percent interest.
The minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola who disclosed this on Monday in Abuja at the surveyor and value national housing summit said the loan is expected to come from the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, an initiative aimed at bridging the prolonged housing deficit in the country.
The minister also spoke on the efforts of the administration to ensure every Nigeria has a roof over his or her head.
Other participants at the summit lauded the concept of possible building techniques needed for solving the huge housing shortage in Nigeria.
The consensus at the summit was that if the country must make progress in the housing sector, government must embrace alternative technology.
