FG, ASUU Reach Partial Agreement To End Strike
The Federal government has reached a partial agreement with the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU to end its five weeks old strike.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige stated this at the end of a reconciliation meeting with the union to resolve issues surrounding the strike action.
Dr Ngige said the meeting identified a means to generate funds for the revalidation, stressing that the appropriate government organs would be contacted on the issue.
He stated that government was sure to have good information for the striking lecturers.
The Minister explained that he hoped that with the agreement reached, the union would call off the strike action for the students to go back to school and also for those who had exams could take their exams.
Dr Ngige further stated that the next meeting would be held next Monday, 17th December 2018.
The National President of ASUU, Professor Abiodun Ogunyemi said they had a fruitful discussion and were satisfied with the steps taken by the government to end the strike.
