FG Approves N38.034billion For Section Of Ninth Mile-Onitsha Road
The Federal Executive Council has approved the award of N38.034billion for the rehabilitation of the 72km Ninth Mile-Orakam Section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in South East Nigeria.
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, stated this after Wednesday’s cabinet meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He said the contract was also awarded to RCC, which has been working for government on that road.
According to him, the contract would facilitate the connection to the Enugu-Onitsha-Amansea Section, which was already under construction.
In related development, the council also approved remedial intervention in four roads.
The roads were parts of Jebba-Mokwa Road in favour of CGC for N1.079billion; the Ijebu-Ijesha-Ekiti State Border Road in favour of Time Building Construction Company for N538.400million; emergency repairs of the Ijebu-Ijesha-Ekiti State Border Section Two in favour of Invest Right Ltd for N562.554million and the rehabilitation of failed sections of Asaba-Illah-Edo State Border Road in favour of Messrs Setraco Ltd for N830. 3million.
According to Fashola, these four roads formed part of the 44 roads for which the ministry had previously received approvals, while the remaining 40 had been dealt at the ministerial level because of the amount involved.
