Federal, State Lawmakers, Others Defect from APC to PDP in Edo
One federal legislator and four members of the state House of Assembly were among the aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who formally renounced their membership of the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State yesterday.
The defecting members, Abubakar Momoh, representing Etsako federal constituency; Friday Ogeriakhi, Orhionmwon South state constituency; Abbdurazaq Abubakar, Etsako West II state constituency; Jude Ise Idehen, Ikpoba-Okha state constituency; and Patrick Osayimen, Oredo East state constituency were led by former south-south vice- chairman of APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Also announced their defection are former speaker of the state assembly, Bright Omokhodion; former aides Governor Oshiomhole in the person of Shaibu Elamah, Executive Director, Project Implementation and Rehabilitation; Joseph Osagiede, Executive Director, Sports Development; Segun Oseh, former board member, Rural Electricity Board; and Tony Osazuwa, Special Assistant, Legislative Matters to Edo Speaker.
Speaking at the occasion in Benin City, convener of the gathering, Prince Tony Omoaghe and former state chairman of the party, said the decision to dump APC for PDP was as result the failure of Governor Adams Oshiomhole to manage the crisis within the party.
