FCT N22b Budget To Run Till 2018 – House
The Acting Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sergius Ose Ogun, has said the N223.3 billion 2017 budget for FCT will be extended to 2018.
Addressing the reporters yesterday, the lawmaker gave reasons for the late passage. He said the National Assembly got the budget in July.
He said the budget, passed on October 26, would run till next March.
The budget breakdown shows N129.3 billion is for capital projects; N52.5 billion for personnel costs and N40.4 billion for overhead.
Ogun added that a fine of N500,000, and a prison term proposed in a bill for the creation of the Federal Capital Territory Metropolitan Management Council, is to deter people from obstructing officials from performing their duty.
His words: “You know we are not a country that respects laws, and that is why we are where we are. We expect things to just happen naturally, but this is impossible. There is no where in the world where things happen naturally.”
