Family, Friends To Hold Posthumous Birthday For Photojournalist, Adeparusi

Plans have been concluded by the family and friends of Yinka Adeparusi have scheduled Monday, May 8, to hold a posthumous birthday for the late multiple award-winning photojournalist.
Adeparusi, who died in an accident in November 2016, would have been 38 on Sunday, May 7.
As part of the activities to mark the event, the Yinka Adeparusi Foundation (YAF), which was recently registered to promote the works of the late journalist, will be unveiled.
According to a statement issued by the committee, the event is scheduled to take place between 11am and 12noon at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), at 18A Abiodun Sobanjo Road, Agidingbi Ikeja, Lagos.
The committee added that the Foundation’s mission will be to inspire young cinematographers, photojournalists as well as journalists to achieve professionalism, creativity, and capacity to impact lives using the power of their lens and pens.
“The foundation will set out each year to organise public lecture to be handled by seasoned media professionals. The committee noted that likely activities of the foundation will include annual lecture, exhibition, and seminar and awards dinner.” the statement read in part.
It would be recalled that the late Adeparusi, who had died in a fatal accident near Karu in Abuja, had initially been declared missing before his body was discovered in mogue.
