Explosion Rocks Gov Dankwambo’s Residence in Gombe
Report reaching Abusidiqu.com indicates that the residence of the governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Damkwambo was Thursday afternoon rocked by explosions.
The massive explosion was reportedly an attack targeted at the house.
Although details of the attack remains sketchy, eye witness said it was a bomb blast that could be heard all over the city.
Gunfire were also heard from different parts of the city of Gombe.
There are no confirmed reports of injuries, death, or the level of the carnage, but the Police, Fire Department and military officials are on the scene, battling a fire from the blast.
UPDATE 1: We have just been informed that the residence of the governor was not touched in the blast, though it is not clear if the house was the target. However, an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), stationed very close to the residence completely blown off from the attack.
UPDATE 2: The governor was said be out of the house when the explosion occurred, but his wife was said to be in the house. No official statement yet.
UPDATE 3: Two soldiers have been confirmed dead, while a number of others are injured in the explosion that destroyed an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC parked very close to the governor’s residence, a government source has told Abusidiqu.
UPDATE 4: It is still not clear the source of the bomb blast, but sources said the blast may have detonated from amongst the explosives placed inside the stationed APC
