Ex-DSS DG, Lawal Daura Released From Custody
The immediate past Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Mr. Lawal Daura, has reportedly been released from detention.
Lawal, was arrested on Tuesday after his sack as the head of the nation’s spy agency by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN).
His sack came after ordering the deployment of DSS operatives to lay siege to the National Assembly.
Daura was released, on Wednesday evening, from a Guest House run by the DSS, in Gwarimpa area, of Abuja, where he had been placed on house arrest since acting President Yemi Osinbajo ordered his dismissal on Tuesday.
The presidency had in a statement released by Mr. Laolu Akande, spokesperson to the Acting President, emphasized that the deployment of the DSS officials to the National Assembly was unauthorised.
As at the time of Daura’s release, his two known telephone lines were switched off.
It was also learnt that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is after Daura, but details of that are still fuzzy as at Thursday morning. A spokesperson for the EFCC did not return requests for comments.
