EFCC Storms Ex-Jigawa Gov’s Abuja Home
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Wednesday, stormed the Abuja residence of a former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Saminu Turaki
It was gathered from some neighbours that Turaki was not around when the operatives visited – only a few of his family members were around.
Neighbours of the former senator said they spotted the team of EFCC operatives at the 16 Dennis Osadebe Street, Aso Villa home of the former governor at about 7pm Wednesday but it was not clear what their mission was or whether the former governor was arrested by the operatives.
A source at the EFCC, who spoke in confidence with this paper, said the operatives’ presence at Turaki’s house, was to “execute a warrant for the arrest of the former governor who has (allegedly) refused to present himself for trial since 2011 when he was rearranged on a 36 count charge at the Federal High Court in Dutse, the state capital.”
The source noted that the anti-graft agency has since been on the trail of the former senator and even had him watch-listed, but “he has continued to evade arrest”.
