Dredging Of Two Major Rivers In The North- A Betrayal Set-Back By President Jonathan By MM Firdausi
Once upon a time in Nigeria, when the Northern part of the country, anticipated for an “Economic Renaissance”. Until hell was let loose after the demise of a Hero, Sage, Visionary without enough words to adore “Late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
In order to open the doors of hope in the north, just like we have in the West- Lagos Port and South- Port Harcourt’s Port, the late president explored all the available means to bring about the long overdue exposure to International Trading Route, which would have brightens the Nations over dependence on Oil. Rather, to showcase the economy in a multi-farous instead of mono-culture one.
Thus, came President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who believes that a Clienteles style of government is the only best way he can pivot the affairs of Nigeria. As a matter of fact, the dredging of the Lokoja-Confluence River and that of Niger- Baro River, could not in any way still hinder GEJ from however he intends to man the Nation. This is because, instead of reducing his power which he wield as a President, that “Dredging” would have give him more money from the economy to grab. Hence giving the President the idea of diversifying the economy, even though the initiative may be lacking earlier. Since there are often Advisers who gives the President contradictory advises, only for their sycophancy undue gain of GEJ.
However, do we then ask a question, that does GEJ really care to know if these sycophants around him want him to benefit, them to benefit and or the Nation to benefit. I want to believe that a rational person would believe that those around GEJ to not want even GEJ or Nigeria to benefit, rather they alone. Otherwise, why would they not inform the President to be more visionary and pro-active toward the betterment of GEJ in particular, and the Nigeria State at large. But due to the fact that neither do GEJ’s advisers wish him good nor do they care to know the impression they put in the mind of most Nigerians, for misleading the President.
Par adventure, the President get thousand of advices from those so called Lei-zes-fare persons or individual, but does that mean GEJ still cannot sieve between the grains and the shaft? I wonder. So how comes GEJ deen it fit for him to be given more term to be re-elected to rule Nigeria again. When, instead of boosting the Economy by opening these Northern State to great potentials, he rather prefers to halt the progressive efforts put down by his late predecessor. Or was may be GEJ believes even after dredging of those two important Rivers, the Southern part of Nigeria would be abandoned or even left out from reaping some benefit from the International opening to have been created for the North.
Nigerians, wake up from your sleep and slumber, because a President who have devoted most of his time to ‘Divide and Rule’ tactics or syndrome, would rather do more harm than good having set the country ablaze through sentiment of ‘Religion and Ethnicity’.
Arise and shine, let the enemy of the Nigerian state be put to shame in their effort to put Nigeria on a retrogressive pedestal rather that the long awaited “CHANGE”.
God bless Nigerians, Good Governance and Nigeria.
