Dr Aliyu Tilde Thinks Boko Haram Video on Conversion of Girls May be False: See Why…
I have been trying to get the full version of the latest video that Shekau released. The ones I have watched are those shown on BBC and SkyNews that last for about 2 minutes. Yet, from the short clip, I have observed few things that tell me it is false: it does not represent girls who recently converted to Islam.
From the clip at least three things can be discerned:
1. The background of the video doesn’t reflect a forest vegetation at all. The trees are semiarid and desert species and ground covers are absent on the red soil.
2. The video was shot not distant from a village. One can see a house at the left hand corner of the video, though it appears only faintly due to poor resolution at that distant point.
3. More importantly, the tone of recitation of the first chapter of the Quran is damn too perfect for any new convert to Islam. It matches perfectly with the group recitations of girls that have been in Islamiya school for a decade or so. The same thing with the melody, even the elongations (mudud) were perfectly recited with the same length. And the Hausa is not accented at all. Because they are fluent in their respective mother tongues, many Christians, like many Kanuri and Fulani, can hardly avoid accenting their Hausa.
4 How did the French News Agency got dt video first? The first person to report a crime is suspect No.1.
More observations can be made from the full version, I believe.
I will be surprised if any parent in Chibok is able to identify any of the girls as theirs.
My advice is that the world should be cautious on building any expectation from this video – Dr. Aliyu Tilde
