DEADLY BLAST HITS BAUCHI CHURCH, 12 CONFIRMED DEAD
At least 12 people were killed when a bomb exploded in a church on the outskirts of Nigeria’s city of Bauchi on Sunday, a Reuters witness said.
According to Bauchi residents, a man tried to drive a car through a fence outside the Harvest Field Pentecostal church on Sunday.
The vehicle did not break through the fence and the bomb was detonated. Some of those killed by the blast were inside the church and others were standing outside.
It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the blast on the outskirts of the city of Bauchi, although churches have been a favourite target of violent Islamist sect Boko Haram this year.
The group has targeted churches as well as schools, police stations, and other government buildings leading to the death of hundreds of people.
