Dame Patience’s Crocodile Tears And The Show Of Shame By Mu’awiyyah Yusuf Muye
They say behind every successful man is a woman, so it is safe to say behind every failed or clueless man is a clueless woman as well.
It’s no more news that our dear president is a failed man. He has failed Nigerians in every aspect of governance. There used to be a point in our lives where we ask for basic amenities of life from our leaders, but it has gotten to a point where asking for those things now is like asking for luxury. All Nigerians clamour and long for now is a secure living environment. The insecurity in Nigeria right now has gone to an all time high. I have never been to Iraq or Afghanistan but am sure even their situation wasn’t this pathetic. At least their govt was doing something to curb the spate of insurgency in those respective countries. To make matters worse, the woman behind our dear president, someone that is supposed to be the number one influence on our president, someone that is supposed to be the rock behind our president, the so called number one Woman in Nigeria always have a way of dramatically displaying her show of shame, complementing her out of touch husband. One begins to wonder where Nigeria has gone wrong. How did we allow ourselves to get to this point? Every time our 1st lady decides to talk or act, cameras roll. It’s always epic. It’s always like a movie, it’s always a show. The sad part is you can always bank on it to be a shameful show.
Our 1st lady has trended several times not only on our social Medias but all over Nigeria whenever she chooses to speak in public. It got to a point where it looked like she was restricted from speaking in public because of the embarrassment she was causing her husband. Not that he is any different from her. The latest of such pathetic shows is her action towards the kidnapped Chibok girls by the dreaded boko haram sect. I think it’s high time somebody educate Mrs Jonathan about the functions of a 1st lady. First of all, the office of a 1st lady is not an official office neither is it a legal position in our constitution. This is where our National Assembly is supposed to come in. But our senate is even quieter than a grave yard these days. Our lawmakers have been totally useless, our national security is in shambles but they just feed fat on our treasury without doing their job.
The 1st lady is Interfering with the task that our intelligence agencies are suppose to be doing, yet no proper authority deem it fit to call her to order. The 1st lady is acting with the power of the commander in chief; the president did say he is not utilizing his full constitutional powers so I guess the 1st lady is using the rest for her certified award winning show. The 1st lady invited the wife of the governor of Borno state, the parents of the kidnapped girls and the officials of the Chibok School. In a civilised society, all Dame Jonathan would have done and within her jurisdiction is to offer moral support and prayers to the parents that are having sleepless night because the government led by her husband have not been able to act to bring back their children or offer a tangible explanation to them about the whereabouts of their kids, instead the 1st lady went on tirade trying to lay the whole blame on the Borno 1st lady that have no constitutional power to do anything in all of this, the poor parents and school officials.
In all this, what I noticed that nobody is talking about is that the 1st lady tried to act like she and her husband are the victims of this situation. She even went on to shed some crocodile tears. My jaw dropped as I watched the 1st lady struggling to force out tears to no avail. It’s like she was mocking the poor parents and officials. One begin to wonder, is it now that Mrs Jonathan knows that God exists? Her husband and his cronies have practically held the country hostage and she is just realising God exists? In my own little understanding, the 1st lady tried to make it look like there is double standard in the whole situation and even the parent are part of the scheme. These people have gone through a lot but for the number one woman in the country to subject them to this kind of ridicule and humiliation which are not only wicked but uncalled for. Somebody needs to make Mrs. Jonathan understand that she and her husband is not the victim in all of this. The poor children, their parents and the school officials are. It’s been three weeks without any sign of these girls getting rescued any time soon and that’s all the 1st lady could offer? It was like I was watching a nollywood scripted movie. It was quite a show. It’s high time somebody outlines the functions of a 1st lady to our dear number one lady, am not sure she knows, and if she does then she probably has forgotten or is too drunk with power. The concerned authorities need to bring her back to reality and persuade her to allow the security agencies do their job properly. She is just being an unnecessary distraction & nuisance to them, and who are they to complain? She is using the other 50% constitutional power of her husband. Enough is enough. Let her take a cue from the United States 1st lady. The most powerful 1st lady in the world that is minding her business and not interfering with her husband’s official matters or better yet she can look within Nigeria and call our former 1st ladies for advice. A word is enough for the wise. God dey oo
