Cross River Police Command Parades Suspected Political Thugs
No fewer than twelve suspected cultists who were planning to disrupt the August 11 by-election for Obudu state constituency have been arrested by the Cross River state police command.
Parading the suspects in Calabar at the command headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, said the suspects were arrested at their hide out in Obudu with the intention to disrupt the election process.
Inuwa explained that the suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons including guns and live cartridges by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command.
The police commissioner again warned that any miscreant, political party or individuals with the intention of causing trouble to thwart the peaceful conduct of the election will be arrested and prosecuted.
Commissioner assured that the police and other security operatives will be on ground to create the peaceful and enabling environment for the electorate to come out and perform their civic responsibilities.
