Court Jails Woman For Allegedly Stealing N4.5 Million
A State High Court sitting in Osun, has sentenced a 38-year-old woman to 25 years imprisonment for stealing four point five million naira.
Justice Yinka Aderibigbe, in her ruling found Toyin Raheem guilty of the offences.
Justice Aderibigbe said the prosecution has proven beyond reasonable doubt and established that the case of stealing against the accused, Toyin Raheem was committed on June 1st, 2018 at about 8:00 in the morning.
The state prosecutor, Mr Abiodun Badiora had submitted during trial that the convict was a staff of a GSM Outlet in Osogbo.
Mr Badiora through the witnesses said the convict, she stole the sum of N4.5 million kept in her custody and also attempted to set the business outlet ablaze to deceive the owner of the business that the money got burnt in the building before the fire was quenched.
Counsel to the convict, Mr Abdulfatai Abdulsalam, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing her on the ground that she was a first offender and had learnt her lesson.
However, the Judge insisted that the law must take his course, thereby sentencing her to 25 years in jail.
