Court Declares Andy Uba PDP Governorship Candidate in Anambra State
A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to recognize the Ejike Oguebego led faction of the party in Anambra state and ordered the Ken Emeakaye led faction of the party should maintain the status quo pending the final decision of the court.
Ruling on the matter brought to determine the authentic leadership of the party in Anambra, justice H.A Nganjiwa, said the instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to identify with the Ejike group that produced Senator Andy Uba as the authentic governorship candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming election in Anambra state.
Both factions of the party in the state have been at logger heads over who is legally empowered to preside over the party in Anmbra state.
Last month, the two factions conducted parallel primaries and produced two candidates for the November 16 gubernatorial election in the state.
While the Ejike Oguebego led leadership which is recognised by INEC produced Senator Andy Uba as party’s flagbearer for the November polls, the Ken Emeakaye led faction of the party which has the recognition of the Party’s National Working Committee produced Mr Tony Nwoye as its candidate.
With this ruling today, Senator Andy Uba stands as the party’s governorship flagbearer for Anambra state pending any reversal by the court.
