Continued Occupation Of Positions In Buhari’s Govt By PDP Faithfuls Is Hurting Change

And the Hawks are gathering. I will go straight to the point. By the Hawks I mean, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. The PDP is the political cult that held sway in Nigeria for sixteen years after a long spell with Military governments and dictatorship. Consequently, the political Party was hailed as the answer to the democratic yearnings of many Nigerians who longed for the participation in governance by the ordinary people of Nigeria. It looked promising.
The government of Pres. Olusegun Obasanjo assembled an enviable team of Nigerian professionals from across the world. At the time, Nigeria was in financial trouble being in the red with financial institutions across the world. From the International Monetary Fund, IMF, World Bank to the Paris Club. He tried to put round pegs in round holes. This was how Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a former Vice President in charge of Customer Services was recruited to help Nigeria negotiate her way out of the massive debts Nigeria was engulfed in.
Eight years down the line it was clear that the first “P” in PDP was beginning to wear a different coat. After the death of Pres. Yar Adua, it became obvious that the first “P” had ceased to be “People’s” and had become “Posh”. Pres. Jonathan and those like him who have issues of low self esteem took over PDP and turned PDP into an elitist political cult that served the interests of only those in it, their families and friends. Impunity grew. Lawlessness pervaded. Looting escalated. Corruption was immortalised and glamourised. Everyone scammed everyone. That’s the legacy that PDP bequeathed Nigeria.
Then Nigerians arose! They had had enough. They demanded that they wanted their nation back. It was not a walk in the Park. President Jonathan and his cronies dug deep into the nations resources and freely helped himself to our common wealth. They owned the media but not the Social Media. It’s was cheap! They do not do cheap! Nigerians took advantage of this cheap Media. They fought hard. They used the Social Media to their advantage, chasing away the federal government of PDP and in some instances, at the state level.
But did we really chase them away for good? Not yet! PDP has managed to retain control of the Nigerian senate, the upper chamber of the National Assembly. No one can be left in doubt that Nigerians are not in charge at Senate. But the Senate is not the only Institution that the PDP is after. THEY ARE AFTER THE PRESIDENCY TOO! Again, we are thankful that we now have a President who loves Nigeria and Nigerians. We are happy that our Leader, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari does not just listen to the cries of Nigerians, but takes actions to wipe the tears off the faces of the long suffering People of Nigeria.
Nigerians and indeed the whole world were aghast at the shabby way Dr. Joy Ogwu, the Nigerian Permanent representative at the United Nation conducted the itinerary of the well respected President Buhari, to the embarrassment of the whole nation. Do I believe she deliberately planned the sabotage? No! That’s how they work in PDP. That’s what she is used to and no one complained in the past because they did not know better. Mediocrity is the accepted norm in PDP. As long as there’s enough money to go round the looting caucus, who cares about efficiency and competency?
President Buhari had ordered an independent party for Nigerian children at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Villa. Unfortunately, because of the bigness of President Buhari’s heart, Nigerians of PDP stock who graduated many years ago in inefficiency and mediocrity are still in charge at the villa. They are used to doing things in a shabby way. Ms. Onyeka Onwenu was there. She felt strange and lonely. She was like a fish out of water. She and those who organised the event do not understand “Change”. Some of them were seen, carting away gifts, meant for our children. Parents were overheard saying that PDP was still in charge. Some others called it a sham!
Nigerians voted for change. President Buhari needs to reassign these people who served under a government that celebrated mediocrity and inefficiency. They know nothing but shoddy and shabby services. Those who campaigned for change know what they want. They have a vision different from our immediate past as they have keyed into the vision of Pres. Buhari. These people are all over our nation and waiting in the wings to support the work of change.
Only those who wanted and supported change can do justice to change. These old hands can only do their best which is below par. They leak vital information to PDP with a view to subverting the efforts of the Buhari government. Their actions do nothing but sabotage the work of the President and his team and God forbid, it takes only one really evil hater of APC and President Buhari to think about doing something sinister to the president and they abound, even in the presidency.
The President need to clean the Augean stable and usher in those who can add value to the work he is doing.
