Ohaneze Splits Over Endorsement of President Jonathan

The self-acclaimed Caretaker Committee of apex Igbo socio-cultural group,Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has faulted the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan for the March 28 presidential election.

The committee had alleged that the tenure of the President General, Chief,Enwo Igariwey, and its executives had expired in January as allegedly contained in the constitution of the body which stipulates two years tenure in office for its executives.

Secretary to the Caretaker Committee, Mr. Zed Chukwujama, disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Enugu weekend.

The statement read: “We have salt deposits in Ebonyi State, a broken down cement factory at Nkalagu, the Enugu Coal Mines closed down, the Oji-River Thermal Station  not functioning, the river dock at Onitsha a mirage, the Enugu Onitsha Road as well as the Enugu-Port Harcourt roads as death traps. “The Aba dry dock is a mirage. Why should the Igbo not discuss these problems with President Jonathan? He is our President.

“The Federal Government’s Mid-term Assessment of their development investment has these figures: total investment in North Central zone-N495 billion, North West zone-N297 billion,South-West zone-N215 billion,South-South zone-N114 billion while in the South-East zone-N74 billion.

“Several billions of Naira were paid to the people of Zaki Biam and Odi as reparation for Injustices meted out to their people. It is highly believed by Ndigbo that Dr. Nwaorgu and Chief Igariweh are Campaigning against the reparation for the Igbo at the presidency for atrocities and injustices against Ndigbo.

“This is because Chief Amaechi and Chief Ralph Obioha are the Chairman and Secretary respectively and Dr. Zed Chukwujama the Chairman of the outreach sub committees of the Reparation Committee. Both of you(Igariwey and Nworgu) will explain your roles before the Igbo

“What offence have we committed for seeking to negotiate with the Arewa Consultative Forum about the life of Igbo all over the North? Do Dr. Joe Nwaorgu have the statistics of Internally Displaced Igbo,IDPs,in Nigeria as of today as a consequence of the 2015 general elections? “The children of those who are back are not enrolled in schools in the South East, the Igbo businesses in the North are closed, all the Igbo property in Abuja could be lost if there is mayhem in Nigeria. A small push and the almajiris will pounce on the Igbo who are easy prey.”

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Joe Nworgu, dismissed claims from the caretaker committee of the expiration of their tenure in office. He said: “The constitution was amended in 2010 to pave way for a four year duration of the executives instead of two. The evidence of the meeting where the amendment took place is available for Ndigbo to know that the caretaker committee leadership and its members are on a self serving mission.”

Niger Deputy Governor Ejected from Govt House Over His Defection to APC

Niger State deputy governor, Hon Ahmed Musa Ibeto, has been evicted from the Government House, even as government officials said the move was to give room for routine maintenance and renovation of the Government House.

One of the aides of the deputy governor who preferred anonymity said that the deputy governor’s office located inside the Government House had been served a notice to relocate from Government House.

The aides of the deputy governor said they had been directed to relocate to ‘F’ Layout quarters along Bosso road Minna which is about 2 kilometres away from the government house.

The deputy governor office at was hitherto located at government house and was located at the back of the Governor’s office which almost linked both offices to each other by the parking lot.

In a letter written, dated the 27th February 2015 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Rt Hon Idris Ndako, Kpaki gave the deputy governor up until today (Monday) to relocate to the new office.

Whereas the development was being attributed to the defection of the deputy governor to APC as there was no love lost between him and the Niger State governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the permanent secretary, Government House, Comrade Hamisu Jankaru, said that the action as contained in the letter was to give room for the renovation of the offices.

He stated that “If you can see the renovation started from the protocol office and also extended to the other parts of Government House and it is not out of place to renovate the office by the time we finish renovation they will come back”

In his response through a telephone interview the Deputy Governor said he was not in town and was yet to confirm the authenticity of the said directive relocating him out of Government House adding that when he is back to office he will be able to speak on it.

Jonathan Ready to Face Buhari, APC, Says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has said President Goodluck Jonathan is ready to face Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) on March 28 for the presidential election.

This is in reaction to the allegation by the APC that both Jonathan and his party were planning to scuttle the elections as they were alleged not to be ready.

The opposition party claimed that both the President and the PDP were afraid that they would be defeated during the election.

But the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organsiation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said that it would be foolhardy of anyone to say the President Jonathan was not ready for the elections.

He also debunked the claim that the ruling party and the President were sponsoring some lesser political parties to call for the shift of the elections, especially in the North-East.

Fani-Kayode said, “How can anyone say we are not ready for the elections? President Jonathan is ready to challenge General Buhari anyway because he’s going to defeat him. We were ready for the last election and we are also ready for this one.

“We have people coming to this office every day to strategise and we also have our Legacy House for the election. Leaders of the party from the national chairman to other members of the National Working Committee are there”

Fani-Kayode also berated former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the spokesperson for the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who he said, were accusing him of many crimes, including bad health.

He said, “If anybody is to talk about ill health. They should talk about themselves and not about me.

“My name is Femi Fani Kayode, and nobody can kill me before my time. Nobody can cut me short and I harbour no fear of violence and I do not take threats lightly. Neither do I fear for my life.

“Because I have never shed blood and I do not believe in violence, the angel of the Lord will strike that person dead before they point a gun at me in Jesus Name.”

Meanwhile, the party has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their renewed solidarity and overwhelming support for President Jonathan.

“You Have Failed My People; I Cannot Guarantee their Votes” – Olu of Warri Tells Jonathan

The hope by President Goodluck Jonathan of getting the support of the people of Warri, Delta state for his second term ambition was last week dashed, when he met with several stakeholders in the town.

Jonathan had visited the traditional ruler of the town, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II and other Itsekiri leaders, but the expected endorsement for his re-election bid did not see the light of day as the monarch was reportedly not too pleased with the president’s performance as far as the people of warri is concerned.

According to The Nation:

The Itsekiri monarch  “bluntly told the President that he failed the Itsekiri during his tenure” and that he (Olu)  could not guarantee his people’s  votes for him.

The traditional ruler was also said to have told the President that his people even got a better deal from former President Olusegun  Obasanjo.

“He told  the President that as the paramount  monarch of the Itsekiri people, he could advise them on how to vote. Nevertheless, he said it was not possible to go back to tell his people to vote for him considering the raw deal they have received from him.

“The Ogiame particularly lamented the manner the President aborted the groundbreaking ceremony of the $16bn Delta Gas City project at Ogidigben in the  Warri South West Local Government Area of the  State, which was the only benefit his people would have received during his entire six years.”

Apparently worried by the tone of the monarch, President Jonathan was said to have requested for a private meeting with Tompolo and the Akulagba – two of the key players in the controversy over ownership of the lands in the area.

Sources at the meetings said the President  told Ayiri and Tompolo that “he was coming to Warri in two weeks to perform the groundbreaking ceremony and asked them to go and settle their differences in the interest of peace and development of the area.

“Consequently, everybody has agreed in principle to allow the groundbreaking ceremony to take place . We are expecting the ceremony to come up in two weeks time. The president has asked the governor and NNPC to work towards that date.”

The Itsekiri and the Ijaw are laying claim to the project site.

Threats  by Tompolo and his Ijaw kinsmen to unleash mayhem on the area forced the President to  call off the first attempt to perform the ceremony last November.

Gov. Fayose Attacks APC Presidential Candidate Again, Begs Northern Leaders to “Save Buhari from Tinubu”

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on Nigerians, especially Northern leaders to save the All Progressives Congress (APC) , Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) from former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu and his cabal in the APC.

The governor, who said he was worried that Tinubu and his cabal were pushing Buhari too much because of their selfish interests,  pleaded that; “Nigerians should   appeal to Tinubu and his cabal to allow Buhari attend properly to his health.”

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said; “since last week Thursday, that Buhari appeared for less than two hours at the Chatham House where he said his doctors certified him fit and that he was returning to Nigeria for the ‘final onslaught on the PDP,’ he has simply disappeared from public glare.”

He queried; “Isn’t it strange that someone who is contesting an election in 28 days time could afford to stay outside the country for going to two weeks? Buhari confessed that he actually saw his doctors, why did the APC cabal lie that he never visited any hospital, even going to the ridiculous and criminal level of using pictures taken in Abuja to authenticate claim that Buhari had a television interview in London?

“Like I have maintained, the same cabal that were involved in the Yar’Adua saga are also involved the packaging of Buhari and Nigerians must save the man from these people, who are only interested in using him to assume power.”

While maintaining that Buhari was not the candidate of the north, Fayose asked; “shouldn’t it interest Nigerians, especially the northerners that only Malam Nasir El-Rufai was a notherner among those who attended the last Thursday arrangee Chatham House event?

“During the APC primary,  delegates from the North voted for  former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar  and Governor Rabiu  Kwankwaso. Only delegates controlled by Tinubu, Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Bukola Saraki voted for Buhari.

“In appreciation of Tinubu’s role, Buhari gave him (Tinubu) the sole right to choose his running mate, with Tinubu still being rumoured to be interested in the Vice President position that he gave his surrogate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. Also, the APC confirmed yesterday that Buhari’s campaign is being funded by Tinubu and Amaechi.

“All these point to the fact that Tinubu and his cabal have a sinister agenda against the North, which they want to use Buhari to achieve.

“Our leaders in the north should therefore intervene and free Buhari from the APC cabal now because he needs to take proper and adequate care of himself medically.”

Fani Kayode : A Man Unhinged, In Need Of Help – Tinubu Media Office

The PDP campaign continues its descent. This is to be expected.  Because the truth stings them harshly, they have become a factory of lies. A few days ago, the agent of character assassination who doubles as the busy hatchet man of the PDP accused Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of plotting to be Vice President, then President, through subterfuge.
Clearly, he has exposed the confusion and contradiction within his party and has veered off from the real debate. But he cannot avoid the storm of change already unleashed by the APC.

However, the only subterfuge involved in this entire episode, is that eating at Fani-Kayode’s mind.  His mind is an agent of mayhem and a foreigner to facts. The last time we looked the APC ticket was a Buhari/Osinbajo one. That is what is and that is what shall stand.

Fani-Kayode is not as smart as he thinks.  If you read between the lines of his hysteria you see another extreme sentiment: that of surging desperation. His statement indicates that even he now realizes that his pay master has lost to Buhari/Osinbajo. The game is over. The whistle has blown. What the fantasy man seeks to do is change the game.  He seeks to run against Tinubu in hopes the outcome will be better. Fani now grasps at straw in the night wind.
Fani Kayode is on a futile journey to shield the populace from seeing the failures of his paymasters.  His statement taken in context indicates that his paymasters will lose the election. They are now worried about what will happen thereafter. The majority of Nigerians have concluded that they have done enough damage to our politics, economy and security; and cannot be tolerated any longer. Rather, they should be voted out by the people.  Their journey of lies and deception is at its terminal point.  It lied to Nigerians and the international community that elections had to be shifted first because of the PVC issue and later it became a security ambush to change the date thus aborting Nigeria’s date with destiny at the polls.

That FFK is the best a ruling party can do as a spokesman speaks volumes about the PDP.  They are bereft of talent and character. They are filled with lies and chicanery. FFK is simply the worst and most outspoken of a bad lot. However, we welcome his interventions.  They are of such low quality and base character. His utterances frighten people but not in the way FFK intended.

Instead of scaring the people away from the APC, his work scares people that someone so unfit is so close to the seat of power, someone so unhinged is given free rein to spit bile and call that public discourse. One must wonder who is unbalanced, the misfit or he who hires him. Keep at it FFK. Continue!

Most Nigerians are fed up with this government and desire change. They await eagerly that opportunity at the polls. They cannot tolerate four more years of a Fani Kayode of his paymasters and his utterances . That is your agony Fani Kayode and of course that of the PDP and its gang of destroyers. You will not be able to persuade majority of Nigerians who are prepared to use their vote for a positive change. And if only to shield the populace from your peculiar brand of abuse of power both you and your boss must go.  The APC is committed to bringing reforms to our institutions, recovery to our economy and relief to millions of our citizens who are suffering.

This latest episode shows that Fani Kayode’s hallucinations are now uncontrollable. Again, unable to make headway against Buhari and Osinbajo he now wants to run against Tinubu.
This plot will not work. Tinubu is not scheming to become president through the back door. He, just like any qualified Nigerian has the right to walk in through the front door if he so desires. But he is not on the ticket.
For the job he is hired to do, it is expected that a Fani Kayode will be blinded to the positive nature of the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket. If he has failed to read and do some research on the character of an Osinbajo, let me help him. Yemi Osinbajo is   fiercely independent. A brilliant mind of great character and and a consummate reformer and legal crusader.  You will not dare speak of him in this manner. The APC ticket is of people of great resolve. But because among your own crowd you have people who will willingly destroy not only our institutions and country you think so of others. APC is a party with people of impeccable character. Courageous and patriotic leaders who are out to rescue our nation. And you, Fani Kayode are on record to have said so in several interviews.
If Fani Kayode cannot recognize that Tinubu is a talent seeker, man of vision, one who creates opportunities for the best minds to thrive and serve the public, then he deserves our pity. Tinubu’s hand is writ large in the brand of good governance pervading the South West and other parts of Nigeria. He is a hunter for talents as exemplified in Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos who has redefined governance. Talented and hard working Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State.  Indefatigable Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State. Eclectic Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state. The relentless Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State. And until recently, Kayode  Fayemi who served Ekiti well. Yemi Osinbajo belongs to this tribe of excellent public servants.
The APC still parades other governors who continue to excel across the country. The likes of Governor Rabiu  Kwankwos in Kano,  the tireless Governor Wamakko of Sokoto State  and  other governors in Borno, Rivers, Yobe, Kwara- all of them committed to  bringing change to their people.
Bola Tinubu help build the great platform for change ,wholeheartedly work and supports the APC ticket because he believes it is the last best hope to rescue Nigeria from the disaster FFK and his ilk will want to continue to rule us if allowed to. I pray Nigerians will not allow them to misgovern us a day past May 29. If Fani Kayode pretends not to know of  Tinubu’s efforts to build and support the APC,   it comes as no surprise  . Fani Kayode tried before to be part of the party but left when he found out  there was no room for his games. Because APC could not help to free him from EFCC and Aviation fraud he ran away to the party that blocked the EFCC on his behalf.
On record are Tinubu’s efforts and his contributions to rebuilding the nation and ensuring its democracy.  They are his patriotic obligation. People like FFK will never understand this. Patriotism is not part of their personal constitution. Everything they do has a private beginning and personal end. They do nothing regarding the public purpose except lie about it.

I will not dignify FFK’s outrageous lies with any reply.  All I know is that Nigerians know that he is a peddler of falsehood. And millions of Nigerians are with APC and its leaders.

Tinubu, like millions of APC members is pleased with the performance of the APC ticket on the campaign trail and looks forward to greater accomplishments from the Buhari /Osinbajo team once in office.

Let me restate that Tinubu is a committed democrat and he has demonstrated that times over. He is one man that has chosen to serve this country to the best is his ability.  By God’s grace, the support of millions of Nigerians APC will go on to win the March Presidential elections and General Buhari and Osinbajo will go ahead to be sworn in to lead this country to better times.

Fani Kayode cannot just leave Tinubu alone because they see him as their political nemesis. But Tinubu will not be their dart board . If they want to see the culprit behind their flagging misfortune, they do not need to glare at Tinubu.  They should go home and peer into the nearest mirror. Therein their trouble lies.
Now that Fani Kayode has revealed why his party, the PDP, has consistently persecuted Bola Tinubu through phony Code of Conduct Tribunal, massive unjustified attacks against his character and integrity, intimidation and harassment. They all have failed. In what is a classic case of abuse of power, the government you now work for have accused Tinubu in the past of baseless and unproven allegations whereas in your party, including yourself there are wolves feasting on the commonwealth of the people. For a leadership that cannot define corruption and theft, we are left with a gang of plunderers. You have openly and secretly stolen and plundered the wealth of the nation without the slightest concern about morality and the suffering masses.

The fiction of a thousand Fani Kayodes cannot stop an idea whose time has come. The APC is committed to upholding and respecting the tenets of democracy and of bringing a new government that will usher in a new day for a new Nigeria. And that is what Fani Kayode and his party cannot handle.

The nation has had enough of their shamelessness. Please pack up. It is time to go.
-Sunday Dare
Special Adviser, Media to Bola Ahmed Tinubu

All APC Programmes Are Designed to Create Jobs – Osinbajo

The Nigerian Youths will be the biggest beneficiaries of a Muhammadu Buhari Presidency if the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerge victorious in the coming national elections. This was the conclusion gathered this weekend when the Vice Presidential Candidate of the party, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, interacted with young professionals at Nelos Place Event Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, at a programme tagged “Conversations For Change.”

Professor Osinbajo said every programme of the party was geared towards creating jobs for the millions of young people that continue to fill the unemployment market yearly. In the over two hours he spent responding to questions from the attendees, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria reassured his listeners that an APC government would fix the nation if elected into office.

Prof. Osinbajo said corruption remained the key factor stunting the nation’s development and blamed the mismanagement of Nigeria’s resources on the rulling Peoples Democratic Party.

“When we are talking about fixing the economy, we must first tackle corruption, which is ingrained in the system,” he said. “If our natural resources and earnings from oil are brazenly stolen by criminals, we lose revenue in the process. It means that we cannot get money to fix necessary infrastructure, including power that is most needed as catalyst to revive our economy.

“The APC government would ensure there is consequence for stealing public funds and lack of accountability. We would start by ensuring accountability in the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and make sure that every revenue-generating government agency publishes how much the nation earns every month.

“We will comply with best practice in our style of administration by setting up a system that holds everybody to accountable; nobody would be above the law. When people realise that the number one man would not compromise on the issue of accountability, they will not get involved in corruption. This way, our economy would pick again and investors, whether foreign or local, would have confidence in the system.”

The former Lagos State Attorney-General said the steady crash of the Naira was a sign of ineffective management of the economy. He even challenged the Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to publish how many jobs were created since the decline in the value of the Naira.

The free fall of Naira, Prof. Osinbajo explained, is a direct result of depletion of the nation’s foreign reserve. He told the young professionals to find out why, despite the fall in oil prices in international market, Saudi Arabia’s economy and currency remained strong.

“Saudi Arabia is a major oil exporter and has a large foreign reserve of about $750 billion. With this large reserve, the Saudi currency maintains its value even as the oil prices continue to crash. Its economy is also protected. This is not the case in Nigeria, the major oil producer in Africa.”

On security, Osinbajo said the capacity of the security agencies to fight crime and terrorism had been compromised by partisanship. He described the Nigerian soldiers as the finest in Africa, but added that the partisan use of the service chiefs by the PDP-led government eroded the professionalism in the nation’s security establishment.

Many of the hundreds of young people at the event confessed they were convinced of the ability of the APC Presidential Candidates to deliver on their promises. They pledged to collect their Permanent Voters Card and vote for the APC.

‘I Will Pay The Cost’, Jonathan Challenges Buhari To A Chatham House Debate

President Goodluck Jonathan has challenged the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to a presidential debate at the Chatham House, London.

Jonathan, in a letter to Buhari through his Non-Governmental Organization, the Wind of Hope Foundation, signed by its National Coordinator, Mr. Ono Akpe, said he was ready to sponsor Buhari to participate in the debate.

The APC presidential candidate had earlier rejected taking part in a debate put together for presidential candidates for the forthcoming general elections by the Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG), citing the composition of the body as reason for his refusal.

Jonathan said Buhari’s presentation finally acknowledged the achievements of his administration in growing the nation’s economy to becoming the largest in Africa, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of $510 billion and maintaining a single digit inflation regime.

Jonathan’s letter to Buhari read in part: “Your Excellency, we wish to congratulate you on your recent visit to the United Kingdom where you delivered a speech at Chatham House, London, on Thursday, February 26, 2015.

“Your speech at the event is clearly a source of motivation for your supporters who in recent times seem to have lost steam in their aggressive marketing of your candidacy for the office of President. The author of the said speech must be commended because your presentation finally acknowledged the achievements of the present government in growing our economy to be the largest in Africa, with a GDP of $510 billion and maintaining a single digit inflation regime.

“However, your actions or may we say, your party’s action with regards to the entire concept and aim of the forum, calls to question, your refusal to accede to request for a presidential debate here at home in Nigeria.

“In our quest to deepen democracy, which thrives on robust and constructive deliberations that aid the electorate in making informed decisions, Wind of Hope hereby challenges (or offers you a platform to debate) your excellency, to a debate with the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan before the forthcoming elections at Chatham House where you were so obviously at ease before your ‘supporters’ and the international media.

“We wish to state further, our readiness to fully sponsor such a forum. All we ask is that you state your preferred date and time.”

The Medium is the Message – Dele Alake Responds to Fani-Kayode’s Oath Taking Allegation

Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the Director of Media of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode on the All Progressives Congress and its leaders.

Fani-Kayode alleges that Asiwaju Tinubu would become president by asking the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo to resign after six months in office in the belief that the. President Muhammadu Buhari may have terminal health challenges.

That the message came through Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode who, just a few days ago, was brought to answer corruption charges, makes the message incredulous.  The whole world knows the other reasons for the incredulity of any message delivered through him.

However, to the uninformed, there is no iota of truth in such allegation. It is the product of infantile, wild imagination of a convoluted, distorted and warped mind

In the APC, we do not indulge in oath-taking, pact-signing and such other rituals that the PDP establishment is adept at. Such PDP- induced Okija scenarios have no place in the APC.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo is a thorough- bred, accomplished professor, teacher, pastor, mentor and preacher who is nationally and internationally acknowledged as a man of probity, integrity, transparency and competence who can never be part of such inanities.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his part, is the foremost national leader of the APC who has achieved an enviable, political status, fame and stature. He has gone far beyond using subterfuge to attain any political position.

It is widely known, globally, that he has been pivotal in midwifing the most potent and formidable opposition movement that has become the nightmare of the incompetent behemoth called the PDP, and to the delight of Nigerians, the desired change they are waiting for.

Having lost substantial ground politically and seeing the inevitability of an APC victory at the polls, it is the PDP that is strenuously engaging in all kinds of subterfuge from hurling personal abuses and attacks on Buhari and Tinubu; to election postponement antics; to evading elections at all costs and even the unfashionable idea of foisting an interim government. It is the. PDP that is generating crisis in order to make the elections difficult if not impossible. Unknown to its campaign machinery, these gimmicks potray the PDP as deep in conclusive disarray.

Indeed, the fact that the PDP campaign machinery can construct a post- presidential election scenario in which APC would be in power is a significant testimony of their admission that they have lost this election. We note this mental and psychological concession of victory to our party’s presidential candidate but reject the odious scenario

Nigerians should please ignore this latest antic because it is untrue, ridiculous, ludicrous, mundane and jejune.

APC Raises Alarm Over Fresh Plans To Scuttle Polls, Seeks Global Sanctions On Culprits

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over the relentless scheming by the Jonathan Administration and the PDP to push for another postponement of the 2015 general elections, unless they can perfect a rigging plan, and called for the imposition of global sanctions on whoever scuttles the polls.

In a statement issued in Dubai on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the multi-pronged efforts to prevent the elections from holding as rescheduled include the use of some 23 portfolio political parties to seek a further shift in the election dates and the destabilization of INEC’s election plan through the orchestrated removal of its Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.

It said the same 23 satellite parties of the PDP that were used to push for the six-week postponement of the elections have again started testing the waters by pushing for a further shift in the elections in the six-states of the North-east, ostensibly to allow the conclusion of the counter-insurgency battle and also to allow those displaced to return home.

”The plan is to use the same bogey of insecurity in the North-east to push for another postponement in the elections. The signs are ominous indeed. The body language of the President and his party does not support the holding of elections. They are mortally afraid of losing because the use of PVCs and Card Readers have thwarted their rigging plans,” APC said.

The party said while the 23 parties are pushing for the elections to be further postponed, the Jonathan Administration and the PDP are simultaneously forging ahead with their plan to remove Prof. Jega and replace him with a malleable acting Chairman whom, they believe, will do their bidding.

”Once they remove Jega, his replacement will either seek more time to organize the polls or simply jettison the plan to use Card Readers, thereby opening the door for those who have been buying up PVCs to use them.

”Is it not interesting that the same Administration that has been flaunting free and fair elections as a key achievement has now gone for the jugular of the same man who organized those polls? Is the man they don’t want not the same person who organized the 2011 polls which the Administration has described as free, fair and credible? What has now gone wrong between them and their poster boy for successful elections? it queried.

APC warned that the consequences of another postponement of the elections will be dire indeed, especially because it will create a constitutional crisis that is capable of endangering the country’s democracy and destabilizing the country in its entirety.

The party called on Nigerians, especially the civil society, to be very vigilant in the days ahead, as the cloud of uncertainty becomes thicker and the vultures begin to circle.

It also called on the international community to consider imposing stiff sanctions on key members of the Jonathan Administration if they force another postponement or scuttle the polls.

”We believe that Nigerians themselves bear the utmost responsibility for the success of their nation’s democracy and the survival of their country, and we commend those who have stood up to be counted in the ongoing battle to have free and fair elections.

”However, we also believe that the international community has a role to play in helping to check the desperadoes who are using the Laurent Gbagbo rule book as if it was made for them, and who will not hesitate to bring the whole system crashing down on all if that is what it will take for them to perpetuate themselves in power.

”Nigeria is too important to be toyed with or allowed to go under. For example, Nigerians make up more than 56% of the estimated ECOWAS population of 300 million. A destabilized Nigeria, therefore, is a destabilized West Africa and, indeed, a hobbled Africa!

”That is why we believe a travel ban and tough economic sanctions from the international community against these agents of destabilization will be in order. This is a patriotic call,” APC said.

USA Movement for Buhari/Osinbajo Urges Nigerians to Collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC)

The United States Movement for Buhari-Osinbajo (USM4BO) wishes to encourage all eligible voters in Nigeria to ensure they collect their PVCs prior to the deadline of March 8, 2015.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has instructed that the PVCs be collected at the Ward (Registration Area). You can contact INEC at (0700 2255 4632) or visit http://pvc.inecnigeria.org/ to locate your Ward.

USM4BO urges all voters not to relent until their PVCs are secured. PVC is your “Passport”, it is your responsibility to have and keep it in your possession. This is our opportunity to ensure our votes count. Please go to your Ward (Registration Area) and collect your PVC. Go until you get it, call your neighbors, send them text (SMS) messages, knock on their doors and encourage them to go too. Go with them if you have to.

This is our democracy, this is our future, and this is the only way we can take Nigeria to that level we all are dreaming about. We can start achieving this if we secure our PVCs, remain undeterred, and perform our constitutional civic duty of voting on election dates. We are persuading all Nigerians not to relent in pursuance of peaceful “one man, one vote” mantra.

USM4BO strongly believes that it is the moral and constitutional responsibility of Nigerian government to provide a safe and peaceful environment for free, fair and credible elections. We therefore, urge Nigerians to stay away from any act of violence that will interfere with INEC’s conducting this election. We also ask Nigerians everywhere to encourage their family members, friends, and co-workers to make their votes count in this election.

USM4BO takes pride in our rich ethnic diversity and unity across different tribes, and religious groups. We stand to protect the image of Nigeria everywhere, and we are committed to true democracy, human rights, peace, community development, opportunity, fairness, and freedom for all Nigerians.

The Death of Common Sense By Muhammad Muhsin Ibrahim

It’s a familiar saying that common sense is not so common. Many people regard this saying as silly, or worse. However, evidently enough today, lots of happenings around the world are corroborating it. Common sense is indeed getting scarce and scarcer by the tick of a clock. Humans’ faculty is becoming faulty and faultier. Bad is considered good and good as bad. Right as wrong, wrong as right. Demarcation line between almost anything hitherto thought as positive and/or negative is being thinning, blurring and shall soon vanish.

A weirdest law was given a nod in South Korea in the pass week. Adultery is now legalized, and soon thereafter, condom maker’s shares surge. Fornication has since been permissible in many countries, though, provided the persons involved have reached puberty and there’s no compulsion. Wonder; this new, lewd law was virtually nothing sensational, even on the social media as other, perhaps more pressing, news eclipsed it. It nonetheless remains a sensation is my sense. I couldn’t, and still can’t, put up with the irrationality and animalism of the law. This is doubtlessly a bad omen for the disappearance of Common Sense.

However, some may argue that decriminalization of same sex marriage is as much wrong. Yes, it is no less wrong, but not as much. Think about it. Now you have no case whatsoever with anybody you caught having an affair with your wife. Your wife! It’s now okay for either or both officially married partners to have extra-marital affairs even if either or both couples are aware of that. How obscene!

I am afraid but common sense is more than dying; it is going to extinction. Murder is literally okayed by some so-called jihadi extremist groups. Abubakar Shekau, the leader of Boko Haram has in one of his video messages called on his disciples to simply kill whoever they see. ISIL have been doing the same. To them, murdering anyone that does not share their rogue ideology is lawful and even rewardful. At a state level, the Israel Defence Force can shoot dead Palestinians and hardly any punishment follow.

Again, in some countries and cities, smoking cannabis is approved. The recent in this horrible, anti-health campaign is the Washington DC, the capital of the U.S. Other countries like Czech Republic,

Columbia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, etc have already legalized it and perhaps some other killing-drugs. Soon others will follow.

In as much as I try to refrain being proselytizing so often, I believe it’s worth doing here. Being Islam a divine religion, it takes human’s physiology into cognizance and thus allows a man to have multiple wives under certain conditions such as an ability to judge fairly among them, wherewithal to cater for them and so on. Likewise, a day or days for each wife is/are stipulated, etc. Allah, our Creator, knows the psyche and the desire of His Creation. Had that been observed, no need to go to that extent as authorizing multiple sex partners; I am sure many people would not agree to this. It will create lots of conflict, for we are naturally jealous.

The earlier we realize the aforesaid, the better for the humanity. I hope and pray that someday murder will not be generally legalized. If it does, then our societies will be like a jungle: only the fittest can survive. Though I don’t think even animals will ever go down to that intellectual and moral bankruptcy of allowing others to have sex with their wives. But for us, humans, it’s really a heart-numbing and a very dire for the future. Rest in peace, Common Sense.
