Claim of Tinubu/Osinbajo Oath Outlandish, Designed To Dampen Buhari’s Chatham House Success – APC?

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the sickening and outlandish claim by the Jonathan campaign Organization that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu plans to become Vice President through the back door was designed to divert attention from the runaway success of the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, at the Chatham House in London last Thursday.

In a statement issued in London on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the PDP and the Jonathan Administration still do not have any answer to what has now become an epochal moment that has separated the wheat from the chaff.

”Our presidential candidate’s globally-acclaimed outing has presented Nigerians, and indeed the global community, with a choice between a bumbling, ineffective, incoherent, clueless, visionless and incompetent President and an assertive, knowledgeable, dignified, purposeful and principled President-in-waiting.

”Having failed to discredit that outing with a rented crowd, some of whom confessed to have been paid to carry placards they do not even understand, the PDP and the Jonathan Administration have now resorted to making nauseating claims that are totally untrue, absolutely incomprehensible and nothing but sheer bunkum,” it said.

APC said the claim is the latest in a series of desperate moves by the PDP and the Jonathan Administration since the emergence of Gen. Buhari as the APC presidential candidate, and the clearest indication yet that they have no answer to the unstoppable momentum of a man of history.

”They have thrown everything imaginable at Gen. Buhari, but he has continued to wax stronger and stronger: They said he was not qualified, that he was too old, then they fabricated a medical report of an illness of their own choice, sponsored death wish adverts against him and instituted a myriad of court cases to stop him.

”After they failed to stop him, they went after the election itself, using the PVCs as a tool to launch a campaign for postponement and, when they realized that would not work, came up with the bogey of insecurity in the North-east to force a postponement of the election, hoping they can buy enough time to revive their electoral misfortune.

”With everything working against them, they engaged in a show of shame at The Chatham House that backfired badly, on the heels of their bare-faced lies that Gen. Buhari was hospitalized in London. The preposterous claim of a secret oath – reminiscent of what they do in their own party – by the apparently ailing spokesman of the Jonathan Campaign Organization, Femi Fani-Kayode, is their latest desperate act,” the party said.

APC said in as much as it has so far refrained from engaging Fani-Kayode in his game of character assassination, abuses and irresponsible name calling, the party is becoming seriously concerned that he may be caving in under pressure and reverting to his undignified past of substance abuse.

The party said it would be a real tragedy if the obviously-disturbed spokesman of a doomed presidential campaign will have to be rushed to a back house in Ghana for therapeutics, hence the need for his handlers to quickly put him on a leash before it is too late.

APC Campaign Alleges Plan By Jonathan, PDP to Cripple Buhari…Plot to Ground Planes, Freeze Bank Accounts

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APCPCO) has condemned as bestial and undemocratic the dastardly plot by the Jonathan-led ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to clip the electoral success wings of the opposition APC, through a proposed grounding of aircrafts and freezing of bank accounts belonging to stalwarts of the party.

The plot to destabilise the APC and cripple its flag-bearer, General Muhammadu Buhari, according to a statement by the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation may be linked to the unsettling global attention on the Party after the opposition candidate’s triumphant performance at the United kingdom’s think tank, Chatham House on Thursday, 26th February, despite futile public protestation by a PDP rented crowd in London.

“In as much as we understand politics to be a game of wits and guts, yet the desperate way and manner the PDP and its henchmen are going is anathema, criminal and inimical to our nascent democracy and civilised human behaviour. Hence, any attempt by anyone to cripple the APC and its presidential candidate will be foiled by the citizens who have taken over the movement of change as symbolised by General Muhammadu Buhari. The hint we gather from sources is that the government, through its agents, is plotting to ground aircrafts and freeze bank accounts of APC stakeholders. But history has shown that the forces of evil can never succeed against the zeal of men and women of virtue and good deeds,” said Malam Garba Shehu, Director of Media and Publicity of APCPCO.

“Information at our disposal has uncovered the ruinous plan by the Jonathan administration to use the Aviation Ministry and secret arm of the Security Service to hound and clampdown members of the APC, by prospecting obnoxious means that would ground private jets belonging to senior members of our party, in order to halt and slow down Buhari’s world-acclaimed phenomenal popularity as President-in-waiting.

“There is also a plot to block or freeze the bank accounts of APC chieftains like Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Rotimi Amaechi (Director General of APC Presidential Campaign Organisation), and other prominent leaders believed to be funding the General’s campaign; and availing him their aircrafts for electioneering purposes,” Shehu disclosed.

Shehu recalls that private jets conveying APC Governors, Amaechi of Rivers State and Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, were either prevented from taking-off or landing during crucial political occasions, particularly during the infamous Ekiti State gubernatorial elections that saw PDP’s Ayodele Fayose ‘defeating’ Dr Kayode Fayemi, in a most controversial “military-assisted” contest now known as “Ekiti-gate Tape.”

Jonathan Under Attack Over Plan to Sack Jega …He “ll Leave According to Civil Service Rules

Anthony Cardinal Okogie and other prominent Nigerians yesterday berated  President Goodluck Jonathan over the alleged plan to force the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor  Attahiru Jega, to go on terminal leave.

They warned that such a  move would have a devastating effect on the nation’s democracy.

The warning comes on the heel of the alarm raised on Thursday  by the  All Progressives Congress (APC) Senate caucus  about  the alleged plot.

Cardinal Okogie  said it would be wrong for government  to  get rid of Jega at this point in time.

His words: “If he is not due or not meant for terminal leave, which then would be an illegal move, then the court will have to look into it. Prof Jega has his fundamental human right. If he is not meant to be on terminal leave, then he can fight for his fundamental human right.”

Prominent  jurist, Professor  Itse Sagay ( SAN), said it would be rash and irresponsible  of government to remove Jega.

He said it would  not  be in the  best interest of the ruling party to allow this to happen.

“If they do that, they will scuttle the election and that will slide the nation into a  political and constitutional crisis. They should leave things the way they are. The polity is not owned by one person. It is owned by all of us,” he said.

Retired Police Commissioner Abubakar Tsav also feared that forcing Jega out  “will create a lot of problems.”

“ If Jega conducted  elections in other states very well, especially  Ekiti State and the PDP hailed him, why are they scared about this?” he said.

“If that happens, it means the PDP is out to rig the elections and obviously sees Jega as a stumbling block to the plan. They should believe in God and allow the INEC its independence to carry out this election.

“Any attempt to remove him will create confusion in the country. It will make the international community to see the country as unserious. In fact, it appears the ruling party  is scared of  General Muhammadu Buhari’s popularity.”

Lagos  lawyer, Festus Keyamo,  said of the alleged plot:  First of all, Prof Jega is not subject to civil service rules. So it will be wrong to send him on terminal leave based on civil service rules.

“Second, this would be the  second  brazen attempt to destroy the sanctity of the forthcoming elections, the first one being the postponement of the election, and this would be the second brazen attempt. And it will be a second one too many.”

He said any such move would cause trouble in the country.

“The civil society, the opposition party and Nigerians as a whole, will resist such a move. I am very sure of that, and they will protest against it on the streets of Nigeria,” he said.

He asked  President Jonathan “ not to use his ambition to destroy the country.”

Barrister Fred Agbaje, a constitutional lawyer berated Federal Government for not debunking the rumours which, according to him, has been flying around for over a month.

He said: “The story has been flying around in the last one month. Unfortunately, the Federal Government has done nothing to douse that perception. There is need to hear from the Federal Government about what they are really planning to do.

“The citizens are justified in their perception of the intention of the government to remove Jega under the guise of terminal leave. It has grave implications for the country. The fears are justified going by the antecedents of the government at denying things of this nature or matters that bother on national interest.”

Comrade Debo Adeniran, a civil and human rights activist, said  “the speculation is likely to be true because it appears the ruling party does not  like Jega’ s  position on the electoral process  as he is not compromising”.

In planning to remove Jega, he said, “the Federal Government  may be  trying to create chaos in order to extend the election by another six months and put the country in a state of  limbo.”

But he warned that : “the civil society will not tolerate such as we have already spoken against it. If they do this, the people will be enraged.”

His view was  shared by Comrade Shettima Yerima, President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, who said: “The plan  is not good for the country. If going by the constitution, his tenure is over, there would be no story about it. But if it is otherwise, it is unacceptable and we will resist it.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has denied  that the presidency was planning to sack  Prof. Jega.

Speaking yesterday, the supervising Minister for Information, Edem Duke, said the Federal Government was not planning to remove the INEC boss before the general elections.

Duke said the INEC boss would leave office in accordance to laid-down service rules.

He said: “On the issue of the INEC chairman, I align myself with what the president said that he has no plan to sack the INEC chairman.

“That is not to say that if it is time for the INEC chairman to naturally exit his office, then the natural course of things will not take place.

“It is like talking of a civil servant who has done 35 years or achieved the age of 60; we now begin to say that he must not retire or he must retire. I think all of that is in the terrain of the presidency and he has spoken.”

Duke also pleaded with the media to continue to do things that will foster peace and national unity, stressing that the media needed to be guided so as not to set in motion things that could endanger the unity of the country.

PDP Alleges Osinbajo Swore to Resign for Tinubu after Serving as VP for Six Months

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO) Friday alleged that the All Progressives Congress vice presidential candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo had sworn on oath to resign as vice president “in the unlikely event that the party wins the presidential election.”

This, PDPPCO, said would pave the way for the national leader of APC, Bola Tinubu to become the vice president and subsequently become president in view of the perceived health status of the party’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a related development, the APC yesterday condemned what it described as “the needless resort to sheer hysteria by the PDP and the Jonathan administration over the globally-acclaimed appearance” of Buhari at the Chatham House in London on Thursday.

Also, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai revealed how former president Olusegun Obasanjo wanted Buhari to run under the platform of the PDP instead of late Umaru Yar’Adua in the 2007 Presidential election.

Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode at a crowded press conference in Abuja yesterday alerted the nation to the alleged “sinister plot by the APC to foist an ungodly agenda on the nation in the unlikely event that it wins the March 28 presidential election.”

He said the plot centred on Tinubu emerging as vice president as a prelude to becoming president.

Reading from a text titled: “APC is Selling a Dummy to The Whole World; Tinubu is The Real Candidate”, Fani-Kayode said: “Since the formation of the APC, it has been an open secret that Tinubu is its national leader and also its biggest financier.  The question that should agitate every Nigerian is why Tinubu has been investing heavily in the APC presidential project to such a point that he has single-handed produced the joint presidential ticket of Buhari and Osinbajo.

“It should baffle well-meaning Nigerians why Tinubu has decided to draft Buhari, despite his age, acrimonious background and questionable health status, into the presidential race whilst ensuring that his stooge, Osinbajo was foisted on the general as vice presidential candidate.

“The PDPPCO wishes to use this forum to expose the ungodly plan by Tinubu to seize the presidency of Nigeria by subterfuge. You will recall how Tinubu wanted to be the running mate to Buhari in spite of the nationwide resentment for Muslim-Muslim ticket that he and Buhari planned to foist on their party. Tinubu had justified the ticket by saying that competence was the important thing and not the issue of religion.”

Fani-Kayode alleged that when Tinubu and Buhari could not push through the agenda within the APC, he (Tinubu), after being given the opportunity to nominate a vice presidential candidate, decided to prop up his stooge in the person of Osinbajo.

PDPPCO spokesman continued: “Now the real reason Tinubu nominated Osinbajo has been made known to us and we hereby offer a public service to the Nigerian people by drawing national attention to it. Credible pieces of information at our disposal indicate that Tinubu has perfected plans to come to power through the back door.

“Tinubu, according to our information, has compelled Osinbajo to swear to an oath that after six months in office, he would resign as the vice president, in the unlikely event that their party wins.  The wicked plot, as laid out by them, is to force Osinbajo to resign for Tinubu to be nominated by Buhari as his replacement.
“The ultimate objective of this plot is to ensure that Tinubu becomes President. The script is simple: given the questionable health of Buhari, Tinubu who is desperate to be president for his own selfish reasons will simply bid his time in the evil expectation that Buhari will not be able to go the whole hog.

“How wicked can those that hatched this plan be?  How unfair can they be to the North, to Buhari and to Nigerians? We wish Buhari long life. Tinubu’s dangerous plan is about getting power. This is sad. No thoroughbred Yoruba man or indeed Nigerian wants to get power through the misfortune of another person.

“But this is the perfidious path that Tinubu is passing through. This is repugnant. It will interest you to know that our information is strengthened by the very similar act of resignation which Tinubu had planned to force on Pastor Tunde Bakare which you can all watch now.”

Fani-Kayode played footage on YOUTUBE of Pastor Bakare’s interview where he openly admitted that he refused to sign a resignation letter that would have seen him hand over his vice presidential position had Buhari been successful in his presidential campaign in 2011.

He said further: “Becoming the vice president is not the destination but becoming the president! The agenda of the cabal within the APC is with the perceived health challenges of Buhari. They have told themselves in hushed tones that he has prostate cancer, acute asthma and that he suffers from dementia. This is their assessment and not ours. We do not know how true this is or what the nature of his illness is and neither are we interested.  All these allegations of ill-health, to the cabal provide the justification for their evil plan.

“All structures around Buhari are all Tinubu’s structures. All the actors around Buhari that are driving his campaign behind the scenes are all Tinubu’s men. Most of the covert funding for this campaign comes from Tinubu’s friend outside the country and from Tinubu himself.

“So, if he becomes President, Buhari will become virtually incapacitated and he will not be the one running the government. Those behind this plan would now be waiting for Buhari to pass on. That is what Tinubu want to do to the North and to Nigeria.

“We have deemed it fit to let the whole world know why the leadership of the APC is desperate for power and why the cabal controlling the APC is hell bent to ensure that General Buhari becomes president. Our candid advice to Buhari is: Watch Your Back. Our prayer is that God will save Nigeria from desperate politicians.”
El-Rufai: Obasanjo Almost Imposed Buhari on Nigerians…

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has revealed how former president Olusegun Obasanjo wanted Buhari to run under the platform of the PDP instead of late Umaru Yar’Adua in the 2007 presidential election.

El-Rufai who spoke in London yesterday said Obasanjo almost achieved his plan when he asked him (el-Rufai) and the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu to approach Buhari and convince him to join the PDP, a deal Buhari turned down.

El-Rufai said that Obasanjo, who was at that time vigorously searching for a successor wanted Buhari by all means.

The former minister said he never had anything to do with Buhari, not until in 2005 when Obasanjo asked him to liaise with Buhari and open talks with him ostensibly to mend some fences first.

He said another occasion he met with Buhari was when he and Ribadu went to him to discuss how he could succeed Obasanjo as Obasanjo did not want to handover to Atiku.

El-Rufai said when they told Buhari their intention; Buhari told them that he had to consult with his political associates because he was not in the race alone.

“Later, Buhari told us that he was not interested,” el-Rufai said.
APC Condemns PDP, Presidency for Mocking Buhari…
Meanwhile, the APC has condemned what it described as “needless resort to sheer hysteria by the PDP and the Jonathan Administration over the globally-acclaimed appearance” of Buhari at the Chatham House in London on Thursday.

In a statement issued yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said even when it was so apparent that the PDP and the Jonathan administration were so stunned and stung by Buhari’s well-accepted presentation, they could have saved themselves from further disgrace by simply keeping quiet, instead of exposing their inanities.

”For the spokesmen of the PDP and the Jonathan Campaign organisation to have rushed to the press to denounce what was a patriotic presentation by a highly-regarded Nigerian is not only absurd but a new low, even for those who have lost every sense of propriety in their public actions and pronouncements,” it said.

Buhari At Chatham House: APC Slams Paranoid PDP, Presidency

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned, in the strongest possible terms, the needless resort to sheer hysteria by the PDP and the Jonathan Administration over the globally-acclaimed appearance of the APC’s Presidential Candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, at the Chatham House in London on Thursday.

In a statement issued in London on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said even when it was so apparent that the PDP and the Jonathan Administration were so stunned and stung by Gen. Buhari’s well-accepted presentation, they could have saved themselves from further disgrace by simply keeping quiet, instead of exposing their inanities.

”For the spokesmen of the PDP and the Jonathan Campaign organizations to have rushed to the press to denounce what was a patriotic presentation by a high-regarded Nigerian is not only absurd but a new low, even for those who have lost every sense of propriety in their public actions and pronouncements,” it said.

READ: PDP Reacts to Buhari’s Chattam House Speech, Says APC Chasing Shadows

APC said the level of paranoia of the PDP and the Jonathan Administration was so high, even before the General’s presentation, that they went to hire some poor folks to protest at the Chatham House over an issue they knew nothing about.

The party said it was just as well that the rent-a-crowd show boomeranged on the PDP/Jonathan Administration, when those among the scanty protesters who were interviewed said they did not even know why they have come there, with some of them hiding behind their placards of shame!

”The fact that the Jonathan Administration wasted public funds in hiring people to protest against Gen. Buhari’s appearance is another indication of how the commonwealth has been consistently frittered away under the clueless and incompetent Jonathan Administration,” it said, wondering who appropriated the funds that were wasted on the uninformed and disinterested band of protesters.

APC also described as the worst case of double standard for the loudmouths of the PDP and the Jonathan Administration to question the basis for Gen. Buhari’s appearance at the Chatham House, when the same platform was used a few weeks back by the Administration, which sent National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki there to push for the postponement of the 2015 general elections.

”So it is OK for Dasuki to speak at the Chatham House, one of the most important platforms for any statesman, but forbidden for the APC Presidential Candidate to use the same platform? The needless vituperation of the PDP and the Jonathan megaphones against our candidate is precisely the reason the sinking ruling party and the failed Administration it sired have become the butt of jokes around the world.

”Instead of apologizing for seeking to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians by saying that Gen. Buhari went to London for medical treatment, these band of poor propagandists persisted in dancing naked in the public square. What a pity?” the party said.

APC hailed Gen. Buhari for his well-crafted, well-delivered and patriotic presentation, and his deft handling of the subsequent question-and-answer session at such a big-league platform as the Chatham House, saying despite the barrage of personal attacks and death wishes by the PDP and its agents, the General’s stock has continued to rise both within and outside Nigeria.

N5Billion Scam on Jonathan: Igbo Leaders Condemns Ohanaeze

Igbo leaders in the nineteen northern states of Nigeria have continued to condemn the manner the National Executive of Ohanaeze  Ndigbo scammed President Goodluck Jonathan of N5 billion naira in return for second term endorsement.  They have threatened to expose the successive culture of corruption and betrayal of Ndigbo for pecuniary gains that has made the national body a disgrace to the South East.

Speaking with the Director General of Igbo Mandate Congress (IMC) Rev Obinna Akukwe in Abuja yesterday, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Kaduna State Chapter who is also the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the 19 Northern States, Barrister A.C. Amechi described what Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Body did to President Jonathan as scam. According to him “ it is wickedness to scam an innocent man( Jonathan) of  billions of naira , share it among yourselves and not remit  a single kobo  to any Ohanaeze Chapter in the North, yet you tell the man that all is in control among Igbos in the north”  The obviously infuriated Igbo leader in the north stated further that “ for Jonathan to get sizeable votes  in the north, he needs the mobilization of Ohanaeze Ndigbo who are the grassroots leaders and not these people sitting comfortably in the East and Abuja”  Barrister Amechi asked those who scammed the President to return back his money.

In his contribution, the President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Taraba State Chapter Chief Hon Timothy Nwadike said that “we are still waiting to receive what they said that Jonathan brought for us to use to campaign for him. The national body has not given us anything’. The Chairman Imeobi Ohanaeze Taraba State Chapter, Engr Emeka Chukwuegbo in his contribution told Rev Akukwe that “we hope they remit what Jonathan gave us. We in Taraba State have not received any money from anywhere and our people and other ethnic nationalities are already exiting the state”

The Chairman Imeobi Ohanaeze Niger State Chapter, Chief J.C Onuigbo told Rev Akukwe that “ Igbos in Niger State want to vote for Jonathan but it is disheartening to hear that the money  brought for that purpose was shared among themselves and we in the north are not mobilized yet” Chief  Onuigbo added that “ as at now Igbos in Niger State are contributing N200 naira each for security and mobilization for the election yet the parent body have shared billions of naira”

The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Niger State Chapter, Chief Emmanuel Ezeudo condemned the heinous scamming of President Jonathan. He decried the attitude of the National body of Ohanaeze Ndigbo who are in the habits of taking decisions and sharing money among themselves without consulting state chapter presidents.

Igbo leaders across the globe have already condemned the scamming of Jonathan and situations whereby some single individuals took between N300 to N100 millon naira of Jonathan’s largesse while the entire north was not given a single kobo.

Chief Chekwas Okorie, founding member of Ohaneze Ndigbo and founder of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) while speaking to journalists in Enugu said that “They are now exposing themselves to public ridicule. They are now accusing them of collection N5 billion for an endorsement and they are denying they didn’t collect.

“But, definitely, they are dishing out some money to chapters of Ohanaeze. Where did that money come from?

“You now have an Ohanaeze that is drawing money outside Igboland to fight each other. So, I feel disappointed as a person, but I feel sorry for Igbo people because these people have betrayed them,”

Dr Dozie Ikedife, former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in his reaction over the weekend told journalists that “Endorsement is done by these groups because of what they are given and these endorsements are purchasable

“In the politics of Nigeria, Igbo should always think of their group interest and then national interest. Many people have been wondering what will be the Igbo interest after the elections. For instance, if there is trouble in the north, the Niger Delta or any part of the country after the elections, how will it affect the Igbo”

The Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Elders Council, Chief Mbazulike Amechi  and Chairman Ohanaeze Caretaker Committee, Chief Ralph Obioha had already condemned the notorious nature of Ohaneze leaders collecting billions of naira from Jonathan without doing anything every election year.

Following the protest by State Chapter Presidents of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the 19 Northern States, the National body in order to cover the monumental embezzlement of Jonathan’s goodwill to the group, hurriedly assembled  some Ezeigbos in the North at Abuja last Saturday where each of the Ezeigbo State Council present were given N50, 000 naira each to keep silent and dissociate from Ohanaeze Chapter Presidents.

The Igbo Chiefs who felt insulted by the N50, 000 gifts told Rev Akukwe and the leadership of Igbo Mandate Congress on conditions of anonymity that N50, 000 to twenty chiefs translating to N1 million naira cannot account for the missing N5 billion naira. They expressed sadness that what happened in 2011 under Ambassador Uwechue that is already under probe has repeated again under Igariwey. They promised to expose the scammers at the appropriate time if they fail to comport themselves honorably. They are of the view that those who collected money from the President and failed to remit accordingly are working for the opposition party.

PDP Don’t Talk About Change Because we Aren’t Bus Conductors that Ask for Change – Patience Jonathan

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has charged women in the country to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stressing that any woman who votes for All Progressives Congress, APC, is an enemy of herself.

Dame Jonathan, at Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, at the PDP Women for Change Initiative Presidential Rally in the state, while applauding the benevolence of the PDP administration to women in the country, cited the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria, YouWin and Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SUREP, as some of the empowerment programmes the President Jonathan administration was using to empower women and youths in the country.

She said: “The PDP is a party that talks less and does more, unlike the APC that tells new lies every week. When you catch them today, they will tell another lie tomorrow. We (PDP) do not tell you about change because we are not bus conductors that ask for change.

“We are now in a digital age and we should reject anyone who wants to take us back to analog days. They keep saying they will do this and that. They should tell us what they have done for Nigerians while in office. As for President Jonathan, he has vowed to do more when he is re-elected.

“President Jonathan has brought a lot of innovation and empowerment programmes for us women. This is because no one loves the Nigerian woman more than Mr. President and the best way to pay him back is by re-electing him.”

In his remark, the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, while applauding the developmental achievements of President Jonathan, said: “When someone does well in office, you should return that person to office and that is why all Deltans are prepared to re-elect President Jonathan as President, come March 28.”

APC Senators Allege Plot to Sack Jega Next Week

The war of attrition between the main political parties in the country waxed stronger Thursday when the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the Senate alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led federal government has concluded plans to sack the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, next week.

The caucus, at a press conference addressed by its chairman and Senate Minority Leader, George Akume, said it had uncovered the plan by the Head of Service, Danladi Kifasi, to issue Jega a letter ordering him to proceed on terminal leave.

Akume, who was flanked by other members of the caucus, claimed that the planned removal of Jega was capable of disrupting the forthcoming general election, adding that only dishonest politicians would seek his removal at such a critical time like this.

The caucus said even though President Goodluck Jonathan has the constitutional powers to remove the INEC chairman, he should follow the laid down procedure for doing so, adding that he must secure the support of two-thirds majority of the Senate before Jega could be removed.

“We have received information from a very, very informed and credible source that next week, the chairman of INEC will be served a letter by the Office of the Head of Civil Service directing him to proceed on terminal leave.

“Whether the letter comes from the head of service or the Secretary to the Federal Government does not make sense. What we are saying is, even if you go by the terms of the head of the civil service of the 11th of August, 2010, with Reference No: HCSF/CMO/1772/T1/11, it is not applicable whatsoever to the chairman of INEC.

“This circular was talking about clarification on pre-retirement leave. Pre-retirement leave is applicable to tenured officers and career civil servants, which states that you are bound to disengage when you get to 35 years in service or when you get to 60 years of age.

“This provision is not applicable to Jega. Why would the federal government controlled by the PDP want to tamper with an arrangement that is so critical to this election.

“Jega was ready to conduct the pre-scheduled elections; the federal government controlled by the PDP was not ready,” Akume said.

I Won’t Stop Attacking Buhari, Says Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said he will not stop attacking the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The governor, who said he owed nobody any apology for exposing the alleged hypocrisy of the APC leaders, accused them of placing personal interests above national interest.

Fayose, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, was reacting to criticisms that had trailed his campaign for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party and his continuous attacks on Buhari.

He, however, said he had nothing personal against Buhari.

According to him, the APC has not only packaged lies and tried to foist such on Nigerians, it has also compromised the Independent National Electoral Commission to rig the election earlier scheduled for February 14.

He said, “I remember then as the ad hoc chairman of the PDP committee to shop for the presidential candidate to replace former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a crop of suitable, brilliant, healthy and competent northern politicians in the PDP were shortlisted by me for Obasanjo to pick from, but he overruled the list and asked me to contact the late Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua because he preferred him.

“In fairness to the late President, he objected to the offer on health grounds, but Obasanjo insisted that he must be the President.”

Fayose wondered why Buhari could not appear at the APC organised rally in London on Wednesday if indeed he was not on hospital bed.

He said the much-talked about Chatham House lecture was a face-saving measure to cover the true position of Buhari’s health, adding that most of those attacking him were doing so because he stuck out his neck to expose the lies of the APC.

The governor said after he proved to the world that Buhari was interviewed in Abuja and not in London, the APC had not been able to prove him wrong.

PDP Agents Have Killed Over 30 Of Our Members, Rivers APC Alleges

Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that over 30 of its supporters have been killed in the political violence that has rocked the State in the past few months. The party stated this in a press statement today, Thursday 26 February 2015.

“Our investigations showed that we have lost no fewer than 30 of our members and supporters in political attacks instigated in parts of the State by agents of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). As painful as this is, we are miffed that no single arrest has been made by the police in connection with these politically-motivated killings calculated to intimidate and annihilate us a political party,” Rivers APC Chairman, Chief Davis Ibiamu Ikanya, said.

Ikanya in a statement issued in Port Harcourt lamented that those behind the killings are becoming increasingly emboldened by the day as demonstrated by their brazen attack on APC’s gubernatorial campaign train in Okrika on 18th February 2015.

“With the shooting, bombing and successful disruption of our Okrika rally which was aimed principally at eliminating our gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, with the successful kidnapping of Fred Ndigbara, a civil servant working in the Media Unit of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Governor of Rivers State, we indeed need no soothsayer to tell us that we are no longer protected but now endangered species. When a political party is denied the right to canvas for votes in an assumed democratic system, as has been done to us in Okrika, we can only conclude that Nigeria is slowly but steadily slipping into a state of anarchy. With the lives of our people threatened on daily basis, with the security agencies looking the other way, we have every reason to wonder if the PDP-controlled Federal Government is truly serious that elections will hold in Rivers State during the general elections scheduled for March and April,” Ikanya said.

The Rivers APC Chairman commended Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, “for ordering full investigation into the madness that happened at Okrika, where one of the policemen providing security at our rally was brutally killed”.

He also commended Zone 6 Assistant Inspector General of Police, Tunde Ogunsakin, for ordering Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Dan Bature, to rescue Mr. Fred Ndigbara from the hands of those that kidnapped him while on a democratic duty during the rally of APC at Khana recently. “We however wish to emphasise that something serious must be done soon to avoid us losing hope on the ability of the police to secure our lives,” Ikanya said.

He added: “PDP and its promoters can’t be allowed to continue to act with impunity as if the police are an extension of the party as being boasted by some of its chieftains. It is very unfortunate and sad that a Police Force that is being sustained and maintained by our taxes should allow its reputation to be ruined by a group of people who do not mean well for our State.

“We hereby demand the immediate rescue of Mr. Fred Ndigbara, a harmless fellow whose only crime is belonging to APC, and that adequate protection be accorded to our gubernatorial candidate and the entire APC leadership in Rivers State. We also demand a stop to the further harassment of our members. We are full citizens of this country and we can no longer tolerate being treated like second class citizens.”

Rivers APC commiserated with the family of the slain policeman, police corporal Ifeanyi Okorie and assured that it will do everything humanly possible to ensure that his children are given the best education that they need to succeed in life. The party thanked the leadership of the Federal House of Representatives for showing solidarity with Dr. Peterside and the leadership of APC over the unwarranted Okrika attack and for demanding that the security agencies should get to the root of the matter.

He took to micro-blogging site-Twitter to deny the allegation, stating that “My attention has been drawn to a story that I am renting a crowd to embarrass Gen. Buhari at Chatham House later today. It is a lie,” via his handle, @realFFK.

Abusidiqu had reported on Wednesday that the PDP Campaign Spokesman has mobilised some Nigerians in the UK to protest against Buhari  with the intent of embarrassing him before the international community.

Court Cases On Buhari Certificate Controversy Reaches 10

The number of cases filed against the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over alleged non-submission of his academic certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission, has risen to at least 10.

Our correspondent confirmed 10 of the cases on Wednesday though more suits might have been filed.

Eight of the 10 confirmed suits are before the Federal High Court in Abuja, one before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Abuja and one other before the Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State.

The one before the Chief Magistrate’s Court, a direct criminal complaint, is seeking the trial of Buhari for alleged perjury for making a false claim on oath of possessing academic qualifications.

The suit, before Chief Magistrate Abubakar Babashani of the FCT Magistrate Court, wants Buhari “to be brought to book” for allegedly claiming on oath that he had a certificate he did not obtain.”

The four complainants are Shield Ufot, Jimmy David, Ogueri Enwerem and Tochukwu Okorie.

Ufot said on Wednesday that the suit was filed on behalf of the Niger Delta Salvation Front.

In their suit, the complainants claimed that Buhari, “with intent to mislead a public officer as to compliance with the provisions of Section 31 of the Electoral Act, 2010 deposed to various affidavits in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, wherein he stated that he attended Katsina Provincial Secondary School, Katsina State and obtained a West African School Certificate and that the certificates he claimed to have obtained are with the Nigerian Army.”

“That the Nigerian Army, in whose custody Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) claim the certificates are, issued a statement and denied being in possession of the school certificates,” the plaintiffs added.

But the plaintiffs in the nine other suits are seeking court order disqualifying the opposition presidential candidate in the March 28 poll.

The cases before the Federal High Court in Abuja are seeking the disqualification of Buhari as a presidential candidate.

The cases are: FHC/ABJ/CS/116/15 (between Hon Donald Daunemigha v. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari); FHC/ABJ/CS/13/15 (Hon. Sergin Onuka Ibe v. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari); FHC/ABJ/CS/01/15 (Mr. Chukwunweike Okafor vs Buhari and two others); and FHC/ABJ/CS/14/15 (Barr. Max Ozoka v. Buhari and two others).

They also include FHC/ABJ/CS/3/15 (Barr. Friday Ojealaro V. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and two others; FHC/ABJ/CS/20/15 (Barr. Friday Ojealaro V. Buhari and three others) and FHC/ABJ/CS/68/15 (Ayakeme Whiskey vs INEC and another).

The above mentioned cases are before Justice Adeniyi Ademola.

Another case before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking Buhari’s disqualification was filed on February 10, 2015 by Presidential View and Endorsement Platform and Barr. Smart Iheazor (FHC/ABJ/CS/1040/15). The defendants in the suit are Buhari and INEC.

The one before the Federal High Court in Umuahia was filed by Selekaye Victor Ben against Buhari and the Nigerian Army. The suit is numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/114/2015.
