Child Of The World: Nigerians Hail Falz Over Sexual Violence Video

Nigerians and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) have lauded singer, Folarin Falana a.k.a Falz for addressing sexual violence in his latest music video.

The reactions came after the award wining artiste announced the release of the video titled “Child of the world” on his social media platform @falzthebahdguy FALZ – “Child Of The World” official video out”

According to DSVRT, it acknowledged Falz’s effort to speak up about “real life issues” on their official twitter account.

@DSVRT “We would like to use this medium to appreciate Falz for spreading the word on Sexual Abuse in the recently released video for his song, Child of the World.

“Together we will tackle this menace. Thank you for pointing Survivors in the direction of Help and Justice @falzthebahdguy”.

There has been a popular demand for Nigerian music artistes to use their art to speak on issues affecting the Nigerian society and lifestyle.”

Wizkid Set To Drop “Made In Lagos” Album

Singer Wizkid says he is set to drop a new album titled “Made In Lagos”.

Wizkid spoke to top UK DJ Tim Westwood. During the interview after his epoch making AfroRepublik performance at the O2 Arena in London,

Although he had announced back in February that the “Made In Lagos” project would be released as a joint Starboy EP, Wizkid confirmed to Westwood that it will now be released as his fourth studio project.

He added that the album will contain 10 tracks with no features.

“The new album is called Made In Lagos; ten tracks, no features – straight Wizkid”, he said.

Small Doctor, Bolaji Okusaga, Others To Light Up NIJ Students’ Week 2018

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Nigeria’s Premier Monotechnic in Mass Communication, is set to hold its annual students’ week for the year 2018 tagged “Light Up“.

The event which is organized by the Students’ Representative Council, will take place from Monday, May 7 to 12 at the school campus located at No. 8-14, Ijaiye Road, Ogba, Lagos Nigeria.

On Thursday, May 3, the students created awareness for the forthcoming annual students’ week of the institute.

The students in their hundreds conducted community service in Ogba community in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city and also advocated against child abuse, rape and other sexual harassment.

The awareness walk and community service were part of the activities lined up for the pre-students’ week by the organizers of the institute’s most anticipated event of the year.

Though the norm has always been to attend the main event which is the students’ week, however, the organizers of this year’s event, decided to line up activities and tagged it “pre-students week” to create awareness for the one week programme.

After the “pre-students week” which ended on Saturday, May 5, with a bonfire camp, the students’ week is set to kick off on Monday, May 7 with Nigerian musicians, Small Doctor, Base One, Surgarboy, Yonda and other top Nigerian artistes expected to perform while Bolaji Okusaga, managing director of Precise(Reputation management company), will address students on Wednesday, May 9 which is the Professional Day.

Speaking on the forthcoming event, Chairman of the Students’ Representative Council, organizers of the NIJ students’ week, Richard Robert, said his team is fully prepared for the event, noting that the school has been supportive but not to the extent the students’ week committee had envisaged.

On the other hand, the Chairperson of the week, Olubunmi Awolusi, assured the students that the organizing committee of the week has been working tirelessly to ensure that the week meets the expectations of the students as well as the lecturers.

“We have lined up activities; we have the pre and the students’ week. We are really prepared because we want to make an impact this year beyond just celebrating our annual year”, the student’s week chairperson said.

“We want to make an impact, we want to touch lives, we want to light up our society – that was why we came up with the theme “Light Up”, Ms Awolusi added.

Speaker @YakubDogara Celebrates David Mark At 70

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara,  has extolled the virtues of former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark on the occasion  of his 70th birthday anniversary.
The Speaker  described Senator Mark as an elder statesman and patriot saying, “you are a man of many caps; former military administrator and two time president of the Senate.”
“Distinguished is an attribute you have earned for yourself from the excellent way you discharged your responsibilities in all roles you found yourself.”
He noted that Senator Mark is a  man of many caps who have left masterstrokes in the way he superintended over matters of state, “putting national interests above personal ones when the need arose; from your days in the military to making the proverbial ‘lightening strike twice’ as the president of the Senate.”
The Speaker prayed God to continue to bless the former Senate President  with sound health and more wisdom to contribute his quota to the growth and development of Nigeria.

Osinbajo, El-Rufai, Monguno Storms Yola For Turban Ceremony Of Dujima Adamawa

Yola, an ancient town which also is the capital of Adamawa State was agog on Saturday as the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, amongst many other dignitaries visited the State capital to witness the turbaning of the new Dujima Adamawa, Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed.

The ceremony which was held at the Palace of Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Barindo Aliyu Musdafa Ph.D OFR., also witnessed the presence of several personalities which includes the Adamawa State Governor, His Excellency Bindow Jibrilla, National Security Adviser (NSA), General (Rtd.) Babagana Mungono, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, and several others who came to witness the occasion.

Lamido Adamawa, in his address, urged the newly coronated Dujima Adamawa to discharge his duties with the fear of God and see the new position as a challenge to do more in helping humanity. According to him, there is no better period to receive the title than now, stressing that it is a position that was highly reserved for philanthropists who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in civic and charitable responsibility.

Describing his new traditional title as the will of Allah, the Dujima Adamawa urged residents and other traditional rulers in the state to join hands with him to move the state forward. He also thanked the Lamido Adamawa for recognising his giant strides in the society and conferring on him, one of the highest traditional titles in the land.

According to him, the added feat is a call to do more in promoting social good and investing more in the people of Adamwa State and the nation as a whole.

Recall that the Dujima Adamawa, Alhaji Musa Halilu, serves as Chairman and sits on the Board of numerous companies with interests in Construction, Real estate, Energy, Agriculture, Technology, Supply chain Management and Venture capital.

As tradition demands, the Dujima Adamawa rode on a horse from the palace to his residence, where he was hosted by Governor Bindow at the Government House in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. Minutes after, the newly turbaned Dujima Adamawa was convoyed to his residence where several well-wishers and guests were waiting to felicitate with him.

Celebrated Nigerian percussionist, Lekan Babalola and his Eko Brass Band are set to light up the streets of Lagos Island with music this Good Friday, March 30thh, 2018.

BON Hotels Commission 4 Star Abuja Hotel

South African-based BON Hotels, has opened its latest hotel in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The 28 room hotel which is situated at 3, Negro Crescent, Maitama, was commissioned on Tuesday by the BON Hotel Group.

The BON Hotel Abuja, features 20 classic rooms, 4 executive suites, 4 executive lofts, a modern gym, conference center, coffee bar and a lounge, 2 swimming pools, and complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel.  The conference facilities have 7 meeting rooms and can accommodate up to 20 persons.

Each of the 28 rooms come with satellite TV, hairdryer, free wi-fi, tea/coffee making facilities, and electronic safe.

Conveniently located close to Abuja’s city centre, BON Hotel Abuja, is 3 km from the British Embassy and within walking distance of the Irish Embassy.

Presently, 50 per cent of the General Managers of the Hotels are Nigerians, while 78 percent of the Hotels workforces are also Nigerians.

I Don’t Roll With People That Can’t Afford Recharge Card, Says T-Boss

Former Big Broda Naija housemate, Tokunbo Ajayi, popularly known as T-Boss, has self-elevated her status to that of elite in the society.

Appearing on the Big Broda reunion show on Tuesday night, the second runner-up in the reality show grandstanded that she can’t associate herself with “people that can’t afford to buy N100 recharge card.”

The controversial ex-housemate, whom many perceive to place pride over her personality also stressed why the N25m grand prize wouldn’t have lasted her in a week.

According to her, an all-expense paid trip to Dubai with her mum, and on a first class air ticket would have gulped a larger share of the money.

On her claim that private jet owners are hitting at her, she said: “You can’t deny the fact that I’m pretty, and you can’t deny the fact Nigerian men like light skin girls.”

When asked what her relationship is with Efe, winner of the reality show, she said: “There is no relationship with him.”

Eye Witness Recounts How Woman Allegedly Stabbed Her Husband To Death, Clean Up Crime Scene To Cover It Up

The internet has been awash of the story of a woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death over an alleged text message of infidelity found on the man’s phone.

The victim, Bilyaminu Bello, son of former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Haliru Bello was allegedly stabbed by his wife, Maryam, multiple time in the stomach and his private part before he died at the hospital.

While Nigerians await report of police investigation into the mater, a family friend Habib Gaiam Aka Gidado who said he witnessed the incidence shared the story.

His account is below:

“Today I witnessed the most wicked and shameful display of arrogance in Bilyaminu’s death case.

At about 9 to 10pm last night, tension started to build between Bilyaminu and his wife, Maryam at his residence.

Maryam demanded a divorce with the threat of cutting off his manhood. Ibrahim Aliero, Bilyaminu’s friend (in whose instance the drama started) intervened 4 times to stop Maryam from stabbing her husband.

After a short calm, Maryam broke a bottle of grandnut and attempted to stab Bilyaminu, again, but this time he held both her hands and struggled to take the bottle from her, injuring himself in the process unrelenting and wild, she bit his finger.

Uncle Auta had arrived this time to calm the situation. They both committed to uncle Auta to let go of the grievances (at least for the night) After the situation had become calm, Bilyaminu and his friend went to the Pharmacy to get his hand treated from the bite he sustained from Maryam.

They later went to the ATM and made a withdrawal to pay up the balance of a spare part for Maryam’s crashed car. By 11pm, Bilyaminu and Ibrahim had gone back to a calm home. Abba (Bilyaminu’s cousin) joined them in the living room.

They stayed till almost midnight and decided to call it a night. When Bilyaminu was seeing them off, he told Ibrahim that “I don’t want to go back until she’s asleep”. They called it a day. Abba and Ibrahim left. At around 2pm Sunday afternoon, family members were summoned to Maitama Hospital, where Bilyaminu was laying in a pool of his blood with multiple stabs on his chest, shoulder, a deep cut on his inner thigh, and many bite wounds on his stomach.

Maryam had confessed to stabbing him to the hospital authorities. Maitama Police Station was the next point of call. At Maitama Station where Maryam was asked to write her statement, story changed. She claimed they got involved in a fight and Bilyaminu sustained injuries from a broken shisha pot that she never stabbed or hit him.

She was later taken to the FCT command in Garki II for further investigation. The police commissioner instructed that the crime scene should be visited. To the amazement of Abba (Bilyaminu’s cousin) and Ibrahim (his friend) who are key witnesses in the investigation.

Bloodstains had been mopped up, murder weapon disappeared, but flower vases and shisha pot were broken to corroborate Maryam’s earlier statement at the station. In the midst of this tragedy and confusion, Maryam had the audacity and courage to change her story. More disgusting is her lack of remorse and respect for the victim’s family.

Someone who divorced his 1st his wife to to be with you doesn’t deserve this. #JusticeForBilyaminu SHALL be served by the Almighty Allah on the day of resurrection.

May Allah grant Bilyaminu Jannah and bless the life of his 8 months old daughter Sa’adatu.”
