CAN President Oritsejafor Warns Politicians to Stop Distracting Jonathan
President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) ,Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has warned politicians to stop overheating the polity ahead of the 2015 elections, saying their actions are distracting President Goodluck Jonathan.
He advised politicians to allow the President concentrate in giving the people of the country good governance as dividend of democracy.
Oritsejafor stated this on yesterday in Jos, when he fielding questions from newsmen after an exhaustive meeting with Christians in the state.
The cleric said: “I am not comfortable with the way some politicians are playing politics ahead of the 2015 elections; I urge the church to pray for the country, and it shall remain one. Let’s raise the standard for this country. The Church needs to remain one so that its prayers can be effective.”
He also lamented the high level of insecurity in the Northern part of the Country, stressing that: “Whenever I see or hear what happens to the Church, especially in the North, I am troubled.”
He urged Christians in the country to learn to live in peace with one another and emulate the exemplary life of Jesus Christ.
He also praised the Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, stressing that he had done well in giving the people of the state the dividends of democracy in the few years of his administration.
Also speaking, the state Chairman of CAN, Yakubu Pam, described Oritsejafor as “father who has the face of a southerner but the heart of a northerner and has identified with the North especially during its trial.”
