Buhari Not Worried Over The ‘Restriction’ of His Movement – Fashakin
Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, a close aide to former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari has said that the general is not perturbed by reports that he and other prominent Nigerians have had their movements restricted by security agents.
Fashakin spoke in a telephone interview with a newspaper correspondent, in Abuja, on Thursday.
He was reacting to a news report by The Nation that the general was among several Very Important Personalities whose movement had been placed on “protective” restriction following threats by the Islamic Boko Haram sect.
The Nation Newspaper, in its Thursday publication, had reported that security agencies had restricted the movement of some Nigerian Very Important Personalities due to safety concerns.
According to the report, apart from Buhari, others on the list include the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, a former President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, a former military President, Ibrahim Babangida and another former military ruler, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar.
But Fashakin said the restriction of the General’s movement is a pointer to the kind of leadership the president is dishing out to Nigerians.
He said since the President Goodluck Jonathan-led Peoples Democratic Party mounted the saddle of Nigeria’s leadership, the shedding of innocent blood had become common place.
He recalled that the late National Security Adviser, Gen. Andrew Azazi, revealed that the scramble for power among various interests within the ruling party was responsible for the insurgency.
The erstwhile national publicity secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change said, “Who is the Boko Haram? Jonathan’s PDP is Boko Haram; at least, we got that from the late National Security Adviser (Gen. Andrew Azazi).
“Who killed Gen. Mohammed Shuwa? The death of that man is still shrouded in mystery. We learnt that his killers come to his house on a Friday and blasted him out of existence.
“Jonathan’s PDP should let Nigerians know what they mean. Gen. Buhari is not perturbed about the report.
“He has been Head of State of this great nation, if government now says he cannot travel within Nigeria, I think we should all, as Nigerians, take note.”
