Buhari Sacks Babachir, Oke, Appoints Mustapha As New SGF
President Muhammadu Buhari, has sacked the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal and appointed Mr. Boss Mustapha as the new Secretary General of the Federation.
Also sacked is the suspended Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb Ayodele Oke.
The sack follows the recommendation of the panel of inquiry instituted chaired by Vice president Yemi Osinbajo on the investigation of the grass-cutting scandal and the discovery of funds at Ikoyi apartment.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, garba Shehu, the “president accepted the recommendation of the panel to terminate the appointment of Mr Lawal, and has appointed Mr Boss Mustapha as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The appointment takes immediate effect.”
The statement said “PMB also approved the recommendation to terminate the appointment of Amb. Oke, and has further approved the setting up of a three-member panel to, among other things, look into the operational, technical & administrative structure of the Agency & make appropriate recommendations.”
