Buhari Is Sluggish, Jonathan An Hero – Bishop Kukah
The Roman Catholic Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, has publicly reacted to the latest political happenings in the country and gave his verdict on the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He equally bared his mind on the immediate administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday August 13, 2015, the Roman Catholic cleric slammed president Buhari for being too slow and sluggish in carrying out his transformation agenda.
He criticized Buhari for acting contrary to the expectations of Nigerians despite the promises he made while campaigning to cease power from the Peoples Democratic Party government.
Specifically, Kukah noted that despite the fact that the president has being in power since May 29, 2015, he was yet to concretely make an impact in the lives on Nigerians.
Apart from the above criticisms, Kukah also sent words of advice to the Buahari especially as regards his determination probe the administration of former president Jonathan.
Kukah admitted that he was not against probing previous administration, but added that the probe should not be to the detriment of ensuring that he delivers good governance to the citizens of the country.
Meanwhile, Kukah praised Jonathan for the role he played in the peaceful transition of another democratic regime despite the various predictions of war, anarchy, and chaos prior to the March and April general elections in the country.
Kukah was very impressed with the manner in which Jonathan conceded defeat to Buhari and highlighted that Nigerians should be grateful to Jonathan and appreciate him always for this smooth transitioning.
For, according to him, Jonathan is an hero. He maintained that if the former president was a selfish man, “only God knows where we would have been now as a country.”
