Buhari Has Not Tampered With Salaries And Allowances Of Ministers – Presidency
The presidency has denied media report hat the salaries and allowances of ministers have been tampered with.
There were reports earlier today that the president has introduced an austere package for the ministers, thereby reducing their salaries and allowances as well as other benefits.
But the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in a series of tweets via his twitter handle denounced the report.
“Reports to the effect that the President has imposed an austere package on the ministers are unknown to us.”
@MBuhari has not tampered with the salaries and allowances of Federal Ministers,” Shehu said.
Shehu added further that: “They remain as they have been prescribed by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission under a law passed in 2008.”
“The President and the Vice President have voluntarily offered a 50 percent salary cut.”
“This is voluntary and does not apply to Ministers and other political appointees.”
“The administration has not tampered with the salaries of ministers and that remain as prescribed under the law.”
