Breaking: Fayemi Defeats PDP’s Eleka, Sweeps Ekiti Governorship Election
Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC], has won Saturday’s governorship election held in Ekiti State.
Although the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to officially declare Fayemi as Governor-Elect, but results announced so far by the electoral commission put Fayemi at a lead with over 13,000 votes.
Incumbent Deputy Governor of the State, Kolapo Olusola-Eleka of the Peopled Democratic Party (PDP), who is his closest challenger, is reportedly coming at a distant second.
From the results of the 16 local government areas in the state, Fayemi defeated his major challenger, Eleka in 12 LGAs.
Fayemi polled 178,913 while Eleka scored 178,114 votes.
