‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Earns Record Breaking $35M On First Day Of Opening
With $7.5 million that came from midnight showings, and $4 million from 307 IMAX screens, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, a new movie premiered on tuesday has grossed a total of $35 million on its opening day in theatres, thereby beating the 2-D, IMAX-less Transformers, which earned $27.9 million on its opening day on July 3, 2007, and setting a new Tuesday box office record.
“We are off to an outstanding start here in North America with big fireworks still to come!” says an excited rep for the studio. The July 4th frame is always a lucrative one in theaters.
The $220 million action movie which earned an “A-” CinemaScore grade may hit a six-day total of above $150 million in its first six days, which is high above Sony’s internal expectations.
It described the movie as one that offers an upbeat, popcorn-munching adventure on the weekend when people are most likely to see effects-heavy blockbusters
