Bomb Scare in Lokoja, Kogi State
Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi state has now become a ghost town as residence of the city, most of whom were in there various offices hurriedly returned home over rumours of bomb blast and gunshots in some parts of the town.
Our correspondence who drove round the town said the entire stretch of the city’s major road is a ghost of itself as inhabitants are all indoors for fear of been caught in any attack.
Although, there are no known cases of bomb blast or gunshots in the ancient city, our correspondence gathered that an explosive device was reportedly discovered at the Revival Church in Lokongoma phase 2, a residential neighbourhood within the state capital.
Our correspondence report that security personal have been deployed to some strategic areas of the town, while an anti-bomb squad is on stand-by at the Lokongoma phase two area, where the unexploded bomb was reportedly discovered.
Efforts to get the relevant authority to comment on the matter has proved abortive, as calls put to the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State did not go through.
